Zwei verschiedene Arten, neue Wörter zu bilden:
■ Kompositum
■ Derivation

■ Beim Kompositum werden zwei Wörter zusammengesetzt und bilden somit ein neues Wort.
■ Bei der Derivation leitet man von einem Wort ein anderes ab.

■ In compound verbs, two words are put together and thus form a new word.
■ In derivation, one derives another from one word.

Nomen-Komposita

Nomen-Komposita können aus verschiedenen Wortarten gebildet werden.

Die wichtigsten Kombinationen sind:

■ Nomen + Nomen:
Aus zwei Nomen entsteht ein neues Kompositum:
z.B. Weltanschauung, Glaubensrichtung, Ansichtsweise

■ Adjektiv + Nomen:
Aus einem Adjektiv und einem Nomen entsteht ein Kompositum:
z.B. Buntpapier, Alternativmedizin

■ Verb + Nomen:
Aus einem Verb und einem Nomen entsteht ein Kompositum:
z.B. Schweigeminute, Kratzspuren

Noun compounds

Noun compounds can be formed from different parts of speech.

The most important combinations are:

■ Noun + Noun:
A new compound is created from two nouns:
e.g. worldview, belief, point of view

■ adjective + noun:
A compound is created from an adjective and a noun:
e.g. colored paper, alternative medicine

■ Verb + noun:
A compound is created from a verb and a noun:
e.g. minute of silence, scratch marks

Woher weiß man, was die Wörter bedeuten?
Zwei Kompositatypen:
■ Determinativkomposita:
Der erste Teil des Worts beschreibt den zweiten Teil des Worts
Holztisch: Der Tisch aus Holz.

■ Kopulativkomposita: Beide Teile gleichwertig -> man könnte zwischen den Wörtern auch ein und einschieben
Ein schwarzweißes Bild ist wirklich schwarz und weiß.

Fugenelemente

■ Manchmal verändern sich die Wörter bei der Bildung von Komposita.

Bei Adjektivkomposita mit Verben fällt zum Beispiel oft das en des Infinitivs weg.

■ Den Bereich zwischen zwei Einheiten eines neugebildeten Wortes nennt man Fuge.

Bei einigen Komposita wird in diese Fuge ein Buchstabe eingeschoben – das Fugenelement.

■ Meist ist dieses Fugenelement ein s. Die Fugenelemente i, o, t, werden seltener verwendet.
■ Mit Regelmäßigkeit tritt das Fugen-s nach ersten Einheiten mit folgenden Suffixen auf: -heit, -ion, -iät, -keit, -schaft, -ung

Joint elements

■ Sometimes the words change when forming compounds.

In adjective compounds with verbs, for example, the en of the infinitive is often omitted.

■ The area between two units of a newly formed word is called a fugue.

With some composites, a letter is inserted into this joint - the joint element.

■ This joint element is usually a s. The joint elements i, o, t, are used less often.
■ The fugue-s occurs regularly after the first units with the following suffixes: -heit, -ion, -iät, -keit, -schaft, -ung
