Q

What changes as far as medication abortion between first and second trimester?

A

Higher dose of misoprostol second trimester

17
Q

How does mifepristone impact medication abortion?

A

It acts as a primer and makes misoprostol much more effective!

18
Q

What are potential complications of abortion?

A

Hemorrhage, cervical lacerations, uterine perforation, infection, retained tissue, ongoing pregnancy

19
Q

What is the death rate of legal pregnancy termination?

A

0.56 per 100,000

20
Q

What is the death rate for miscarriage?

A

1.19 per 100,000

21
Q

What is the death rate for live births?

A

32.9 per 100,000

22
Q

What is the death rate for ectopic pregnancy?

A

31.9 per 100,000

23
Q

What is the complication rate for abortions?

24
Q

What are risks of first trimester procedural abortion?

A

Negligible risk of infertility, future miscarriage, or other long-term problems. Possible, but really never happens.

25
Compare mental health issues related to abortion vs carrying unplanned pregnancy.
No increased risk of mental health problems in abortion
