Q

What is the sclera?

A

The connective tissue surrounding the eye. This with the cornea makes up the exterior

Q

What is the uvea?

A

The middle lining of the eye. It is made up of the
Iris - divides eye into two chambers
Ciliary body - secretes aqueous humour (under cornea) and vitreous humour (main body 80%)
Choroid

Q

What is the retina?

A

The inner lining made up of ten layers.

Includes the optic disk and the macula (fovea)

Q

What is the humour?

A

Produced by the ciliary body.

Aqueous is found under the cornea, provides nutrients and pressure

Vitreous is a gel preventing retinal detachment

Q

How does it work neurologically?

A

The cones/rods send sensory information through bipolar cells, linked by amacrine cells, and through to ganglion cells to CNI
