Q

What is the artery supply of the pelvis?

A

Terminal branches of the aorta
- Hind limb/body wall - paired external iliac arteries

  • Pelvic region - paired internal iliac arteries
    >Internal pudendal artery - pelvic organs, visceral with branches to organs
    > Caudal gluteal arter - wall of pelvic cavity
  • Midline structures and tail - median sacral artery

Q

What are the somatic nerves of the pelvis?

A

Pudenal nerve formed from the ventral rami of acral spinal nerves

17
Q

What is the superficial perineal nerve?

A

A branch off the pudenal nerves

Supplies:
-Skin of perineum
- Caudal parts of scrotum
-Mammary glands

18
Q

What is the deep perineal nerve?

A

A branch off the pudneal nerve

Supplies striated muscles in the perineum

19
Q

What is the caudal rectal nerves?

A

Branch off pudneal nerve .

Supplies sensation to rectum, anal canal and skin and striated muscles in dorsal perineum.

20
Q

What are the autonomic nerves of the pelvis?

A

The pelvic nerves

21
Q

What are the parasympathetic nerves of the pelvis?

A

Sacral segments of spinal cord to pelvic plexus on lateral wall of rectum

22
Q

What are the sympathetic nerves of the pelvis?

A

Input to pelvic plexus from the caudal mesenteric ganglion via the hypogastric nerve
