John's baptism-- was it from heaven, or from men? Tell me!"
Крещение Иоанново с небес было, или от человеков? отвечайте Мне.

They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Then why didn't you believe him?'
Они рассуждали между собою: если скажем: "с небес",— то Он скажет: "почему же вы не поверили ему?"

But if we say, 'From men'..." (They feared the people, for everyone held that John really was a prophet.)
А сказать: "от человеков"— боялись народа, потому что все полагали, что Иоанн точно был пророк.

So they answered Jesus, "We don't know." Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."
И сказали в ответ Иисусу: не знаем.Тогда Иисус сказал им в ответ: и Я не скажу вам, какою властью это делаю.

He then began to speak to them in parables: "A man planted a vineyard. He put a wall around it, dug a pit for the winepress and built a watchtower. Then he rented the vineyard to some farmers and went away on a journey.
И начал говорить им притчами: некоторый человек насадил виноградник и обнес оградою, и выкопал точило, и построил башню, и, отдав его виноградарям, отлучился.

At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants to collect from them some of the fruit of the vineyard.
И послал в свое время к виноградарям слугу— принять от виноградарей плодов из виноградника.

But they seized him, beat him and sent him away empty-handed.
Они же, схватив его, били и отослали ни с чем.

Then he sent another servant to them; they struck this man on the head and treated him shamefully.
Опять послал к ним другого слугу; и тому камнями разбили голову и отпустили его с бесчестьем.

He sent still another, and that one they killed. He sent many others; some of them they beat, others they killed.
И опять иного послал: и того убили; и многих других то били, то убивали.

"He had one left to send, a son, whom he loved. He sent him last of all, saying, 'They will respect my son.'
Имея же еще одного сына, любезного ему, напоследок послал и его к ним, говоря: "постыдятся сына моего".

"But the tenants said to one another, 'This is the heir. Come, let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'
Но виноградари сказали друг другу: "это наследник; пойдем, убьем его, и наследство будет наше".

So they took him and killed him, and threw him out of the vineyard.
И, схватив его, убили и выбросили вон из виноградника.

"What then will the owner of the vineyard do? He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others.
Что же сделает хозяин виноградника?— Придет и предаст смерти виноградарей, и отдаст виноградник другим.

Haven't you read this scripture: " 'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone;
Неужели вы не читали сего в Писании: "камень, который отвергли строители, тот самый сделался главою угла:

the Lord has done this, and it is marvelous in our eyes'?"
это от ГОСПОДА, и есть дивно в очах наших"?

Then they looked for a way to arrest him because they knew he had spoken the parable against them. But they were afraid of the crowd; so they left him and went away.
И старались схватить Его, но побоялись народа, ибо поняли, что о них сказал притчу; и, оставив Его, отошли.

Later they sent some of the Pharisees and Herodians to Jesus to catch him in his words.
И посылают к Нему некоторых из фарисеев и иродиан, чтобы уловить Его в слове.

They came to him and said, "Teacher, we know you are a man of integrity. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are; but you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?
Они же, придя, говорят Ему: Учитель! мы знаем, что Ты справедлив и не заботишься об угождении кому-либо, ибо не смотришь ни на какое лицо, но истинно пути Божию учишь. Позволительно ли давать подать кесарю или нет? давать ли нам или не давать?

Should we pay or shouldn't we?" But Jesus knew their hypocrisy. "Why are you trying to trap me?" he asked. "Bring me a denarius and let me look at it."
Но Он, зная их лицемерие, сказал им: что искушаете Меня? принесите Мне динарий, чтобы Мне видеть его.

They brought the coin, and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?" "Caesar's," they replied.
Они принесли. Тогда говорит им: чье это изображение и надпись?Они сказали Ему: кесаревы.

Then Jesus said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's." And they were amazed at him.
Иисус сказал им в ответ: отдавайте кесарево кесарю, а Божие Богу. И дивились Ему.

Then the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to him with a question.
Потом пришли к Нему саддукеи, которые говорят, что нет воскресения, и спросили Его, говоря:

"Teacher," they said, "Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother.
Учитель! Моисей написал нам: "если у кого умрет брат и оставит жену, а детей не оставит, то брат его пусть возьмет жену его и восстановит семя брату своему".

Now there were seven brothers. The first one married and died without leaving any children.
Было семь братьев: первый взял жену и, умирая, не оставил детей.

The second one married the widow, but he also died, leaving no child. It was the same with the third.
Взял ее второй и умер, и он не оставил детей; также и третий.

In fact, none of the seven left any children. Last of all, the woman died too.
Брали ее за себя семеро и не оставили детей. После всех умерла и жена.

At the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?"
Итак, в воскресении, когда воскреснут, которого из них будет она женою? Ибо семеро имели ее женою.

Jesus replied, "Are you not in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God?
Иисус сказал им в ответ: этим ли приводитесь вы в заблуждение, не зная Писаний, ни силы Божией?

When the dead rise, they will neither marry nor be given in marriage; they will be like the angels in heaven.
Ибо, когда из мертвых воскреснут, тогда не будут ни жениться, ни замуж выходить, но будут, как Ангелы на небесах.

Now about the dead rising-- have you not read in the book of Moses, in the account of the bush, how God said to him, 'I am the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob'?
А о мертвых, что они воскреснут, разве не читали вы в книге Моисея, как Бог при купине сказал ему: "Я Бог Авраама, и Бог Исаака, и Бог Иакова?"

He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. You are badly mistaken!"
Бог не есть Бог мертвых, но Бог живых. Итак, вы весьма заблуждаетесь.

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
Один из книжников, слыша их прения и видя, что Иисус хорошо им отвечал, подошел и спросил Его: какая первая из всех заповедей?

"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this: 'Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one.
Иисус отвечал ему: первая из всех заповедей: "слушай, Израиль! ГОСПОДЬ Бог наш есть ГОСПОДЬ единый;

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'
и возлюби ГОСПОДА Бога твоего всем сердцем твоим, и всею душою твоею, и всем разумением твоим, и всею крепостию твоею",— вот первая заповедь!

The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."
Вторая подобная ей: "возлюби ближнего твоего, как самого себя". Иной большей сих заповеди нет.

"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.
Книжник сказал Ему: хорошо, Учитель! истину сказал Ты, что один есть Бог и нет иного, кроме Его;

To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."
и любить Его всем сердцем, и всем умом, и всею душою, и всею крепостью, и любить ближнего, как самого себя, есть больше всех всесожжений и жертв.

When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.
Иисус, видя, что он разумно отвечал, сказал ему: недалеко ты от Царствия Божия. После того никто уже не смел спрашивать Его.

While Jesus was teaching in the temple courts, he asked, "How is it that the teachers of the law say that the Christ is the son of David?
Продолжая учить в храме, Иисус говорил: как говорят книжники, что Христос есть Сын Давидов?

David himself, speaking by the Holy Spirit, declared: " 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet." '
Ибо сам Давид сказал Духом Святым: "сказал ГОСПОДЬ ГОСПОДУ моему: седи одесную Меня, доколе положу врагов Твоих в подножие ног Твоих".

David himself calls him 'Lord.' How then can he be his son?" The large crowd listened to him with delight.
Итак, сам Давид называет Его ГОСПОДОМ: как же Он Сын ему? И множество народа слушало Его с услаждением.

As he taught, Jesus said, "Watch out for the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and be greeted in the marketplaces,
И говорил им в учении Своем: остерегайтесь книжников, любящих ходить в длинных одеждах и принимать приветствия в народных собраниях,

and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
сидеть впереди в синагогах и возлежать на первом месте на пиршествах,—

They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely."
сии, поядающие домы вдов и напоказ долго молящиеся, примут тягчайшее осуждение.

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts.
И сел Иисус против сокровищницы, и смотрел, как народ кладет деньги в сокровищницу. Многие богатые клали много.

But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.
Придя же, одна бедная вдова положила две лепты, что составляет кодрант.

Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.
Подозвав учеников Своих, Иисус сказал им: истинно говорю вам, что эта бедная вдова положила больше всех, клавших в сокровищницу,

They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything-- all she had to live on."
ибо все клали от избытка своего, а она от скудости своей положила все, что имела, все пропитание свое.

As he was leaving the temple, one of his disciples said to him, "Look, Teacher! What massive stones! What magnificent buildings!"
И когда выходил Он из храма, говорит Ему один из учеников Его: Учитель! посмотри, какие камни и какие здания!

"Do you see all these great buildings?" replied Jesus. "Not one stone here will be left on another; every one will be thrown down."
Иисус сказал ему в ответ: видишь сии великие здания? все это будет разрушено, так что не останется здесь камня на камне.

As Jesus was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter, James, John and Andrew asked him privately,
И когда Он сидел на горе Елеонской против храма, спрашивали Его наедине Петр, и Иаков, и Иоанн, и Андрей:

"Tell us, when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are all about to be fulfilled?"
скажи нам, когда это будет, и какой признак, когда все сие должно совершиться?

Jesus said to them: "Watch out that no one deceives you.
Отвечая им, Иисус начал говорить: берегитесь, чтобы кто не прельстил вас,

Many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and will deceive many.
ибо многие придут под именем Моим и будут говорить, что это Я; и многих прельстят.

When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, do not be alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come.
Когда же услышите о войнах и о военных слухах, не ужасайтесь: ибо надлежит сему быть,— но это еще не конец.

Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be earthquakes in various places, and famines. These are the beginning of birth pains.
Ибо восстанет народ на народ и царство на царство; и будут землетрясения по местам, и будут глады и смятения. Это— начало болезней.

"You must be on your guard. You will be handed over to the local councils and flogged in the synagogues. On account of me you will stand before governors and kings as witnesses to them.
Но вы смотрите за собою, ибо вас будут предавать в судилища и бить в синагогах, и перед правителями и царями поставят вас за Меня, для свидетельства перед ними.

And the gospel must first be preached to all nations.
И во всех народах прежде должно быть проповедано Евангелие.

Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.
Когда же поведут предавать вас, не заботьтесь наперед, что вам говорить, и не обдумывайте; но что дано будет вам в тот час, то и говорите, ибо не вы будете говорить, но Дух Святой.

"Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child. Children will rebel against their parents and have them put to death.
Предаст же брат брата на смерть, и отец— детей; и восстанут дети на родителей, и умертвят их.

All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved.
И будете ненавидимы всеми за имя Мое; претерпевший же до конца спасется.

"When you see 'the abomination that causes desolation' standing where it does not belong-- let the reader understand-- then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains.
Когда же увидите мерзость запустения, реченную пророком Даниилом, стоящую, где не должно,— читающий да разумеет,— тогда находящиеся в Иудее да бегут в горы;

Let no one on the roof of his house go down or enter the house to take anything out.

Let no one in the field go back to get his cloak.

How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers!
Горе беременным и питающим сосцами в те дни.

Pray that this will not take place in winter,
Молитесь, чтобы не случилось бегство ваше зимою.

because those will be days of distress unequaled from the beginning, when God created the world, until now-- and never to be equaled again.
Ибо в те дни будет такая скорбь, какой не было от начала творения, которое сотворил Бог, даже доныне, и не будет.

If the Lord had not cut short those days, no one would survive. But for the sake of the elect, whom he has chosen, he has shortened them.

At that time if anyone says to you, 'Look, here is the Christ!' or, 'Look, there he is!' do not believe it.

For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect-- if that were possible.
Ибо восстанут лжехристы и лжепророки и дадут знамения и чудеса, чтобы прельстить, если возможно, и избранных.

So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.
Вы же берегитесь. Вот, Я наперед сказал вам все.

"But in those days, following that distress, " 'the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light;
Но в те дни, после скорби той, солнце померкнет, и луна не даст света своего,

the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.'
и звезды спадут с неба, и силы небесные поколеблются.

"At that time men will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory.
Тогда увидят Сына Человеческого, грядущего на облаках с силою многою и славою.

And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
И тогда Он пошлет Ангелов Своих и соберет избранных Своих от четырех ветров, от края земли до края неба.

"Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near.
От смоковницы возьмите подобие: когда ветви ее становятся уже мягки и пускают листья, то знаете, что близко лето.

Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it is near, right at the door.
Так и когда вы увидите то сбывающимся, знайте, что близко, при дверях.

I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
Истинно говорю вам: не прейдет род сей, как все это будет.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
Небо и земля прейдут, но слова Мои не прейдут.

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.
О дне же том, или часе, никто не знает, ни Ангелы небесные, ни Сын, но только Отец.

Be on guard! Be alert! You do not know when that time will come.
Смотрите, бодрствуйте, молитесь, ибо не знаете, когда наступит это время.

It's like a man going away: He leaves his house and puts his servants in charge, each with his assigned task, and tells the one at the door to keep watch.

"Therefore keep watch because you do not know when the owner of the house will come back-- whether in the evening, or at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or at dawn.

If he comes suddenly, do not let him find you sleeping.

What I say to you, I say to everyone: 'Watch!' "

Now the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread were only two days away, and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some sly way to arrest Jesus and kill him.
Через два дня надлежало быть празднику Пасхи и опресноков. И искали первосвященники и книжники, как бы взять Его хитростью и убить;

"But not during the Feast," they said, "or the people may riot."
но говорили: только не в праздник, чтобы не произошло возмущения в народе.

While he was in Bethany, reclining at the table in the home of a man known as Simon the Leper, a woman came with an alabaster jar of very expensive perfume, made of pure nard. She broke the jar and poured the perfume on his head.
И когда был Он в Вифании, в доме Симона прокаженного, и возлежал,— пришла женщина с алавастровым сосудом мира из нарда чистого, драгоценного и, разбив сосуд, возлила Ему на голову.

Some of those present were saying indignantly to one another, "Why this waste of perfume?
Некоторые же вознегодовали и говорили между собою: к чему сия трата мира?

It could have been sold for more than a year's wages and the money given to the poor." And they rebuked her harshly.
Ибо можно было бы продать его более нежели за триста динариев и раздать нищим. И роптали на нее.

"Leave her alone," said Jesus. "Why are you bothering her? She has done a beautiful thing to me.
Но Иисус сказал: оставьте ее; что ее смущаете? Она доброе дело сделала для Меня.

The poor you will always have with you, and you can help them any time you want. But you will not always have me.
Ибо нищих всегда имеете с собою и, когда захотите, можете им благотворить; а Меня не всегда имеете.

She did what she could. She poured perfume on my body beforehand to prepare for my burial.
Она сделала, что могла: предварила помазать тело Мое к погребению.

I tell you the truth, wherever the gospel is preached throughout the world, what she has done will also be told, in memory of her."
Истинно говорю вам: где ни будет проповедано Евангелие сие, в целом мире, сказано будет, в память ее, и о том, что она сделала.

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the Twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Jesus to them.
И пошел Иуда Искариот, один из Двенадцати, к первосвященникам, чтобы предать Его им.

They were delighted to hear this and promised to give him money. So he watched for an opportunity to hand him over.

On the first day of the Feast of Unleavened Bread, when it was customary to sacrifice the Passover lamb, Jesus' disciples asked him, "Where do you want us to go and make preparations for you to eat the Passover?"
В первый день опресноков, когда закалали пасхального агнца, говорят Ему ученики Его: где хочешь есть пасху? мы пойдем и приготовим.

So he sent two of his disciples, telling them, "Go into the city, and a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him.
И посылает двух из учеников Своих, и говорит им: пойдите в город; и встретится вам человек, несущий кувшин воды; последуйте за ним

Say to the owner of the house he enters, 'The Teacher asks: Where is my guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?'
и, куда он войдет, скажите хозяину дома того: "Учитель говорит: где комната, в которой бы Мне есть пасху с учениками Моими?"

He will show you a large upper room, furnished and ready. Make preparations for us there."
И он покажет вам горницу большую, устланную, готовую: там приготовьте нам.

The disciples left, went into the city and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
И пошли ученики Его, и пришли в город, и нашли, как сказал им; и приготовили пасху.

When evening came, Jesus arrived with the Twelve.

While they were reclining at the table eating, he said, "I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me-- one who is eating with me."

They were saddened, and one by one they said to him, "Surely not I?"

"It is one of the Twelve," he replied, "one who dips bread into the bowl with me.
Он же сказал им в ответ: один из Двенадцати, обмакивающий со Мною в блюдо.

The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born."
Впрочем, Сын Человеческий идет, как писано о Нем; но горе тому человеку, которым Сын Человеческий предается: лучше было бы тому человеку не родиться.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying, "Take it; this is my body."
И когда они ели, Иисус, взяв хлеб, благословил, преломил, дал им и сказал: приимите, ядите; сие есть Тело Мое.

Then he took the cup, gave thanks and offered it to them, and they all drank from it.
И, взяв чашу, благодарив, подал им: и пили из нее все.

"This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many," he said to them.

"I tell you the truth, I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until that day when I drink it anew in the kingdom of God."

When they had sung a hymn, they went out to the Mount of Olives.
И, воспев, пошли на гору Елеонскую.

"You will all fall away," Jesus told them, "for it is written: " 'I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep will be scattered.'
И говорит им Иисус: все вы соблазнитесь о Мне в эту ночь; ибо написано: "поражу пастыря, и рассеются овцы".

But after I have risen, I will go ahead of you into Galilee."
По воскресении же Моем, Я предварю вас в Галилее.

Peter declared, "Even if all fall away, I will not."
Петр сказал Ему: если и все соблазнятся, но не я.

"I tell you the truth," Jesus answered, "today-- yes, tonight-- before the rooster crows twice you yourself will disown me three times."
И говорит ему Иисус: истинно говорю тебе, что ты ныне, в эту ночь, прежде нежели дважды пропоет петух, трижды отречешься от Меня.

But Peter insisted emphatically, "Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you." And all the others said the same.
Но он еще с большим усилием говорил: хотя бы мне надлежало и умереть с Тобою, не отрекусь от Тебя. То же и все говорили.

They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray."
Пришли в селение, называемое Гефсимания; и Он сказал ученикам Своим: посидите здесь, пока Я помолюсь.

He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled.
И взял с Собою Петра, Иакова и Иоанна; и начал ужасаться и тосковать.

"My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death," he said to them. "Stay here and keep watch."
И сказал им: душа Моя скорбит смертельно; побудьте здесь и бодрствуйте.

Going a little farther, he fell to the ground and prayed that if possible the hour might pass from him.
И, отойдя немного, пал на землю и молился, чтобы, если возможно, миновал Его час сей;

"Abba, Father," he said, "everything is possible for you. Take this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what you will."
и говорил: Авва Отче! все возможно Тебе; пронеси чашу сию мимо Меня; но не чего Я хочу, а чего Ты.

Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour?
Возвращается и находит их спящими, и говорит Петру: Симон! ты спишь? не мог ты бодрствовать один час?

Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
Бодрствуйте и молитесь, чтобы не впасть в искушение: дух бодр, плоть же немощна.

Once more he went away and prayed the same thing.
И, опять отойдя, молился, сказав то же слово.

When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him.
И, возвратившись, опять нашел их спящими, ибо глаза у них отяжелели, и они не знали, что Ему отвечать.

Returning the third time, he said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.
И приходит в третий раз и говорит им: вы все еще спите и почиваете? Кончено, пришел час: вот, предается Сын Человеческий в руки грешников.

Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!"
Встаньте, пойдем; вот, приблизился предающий Меня.

Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders.
И тотчас, как Он еще говорил, приходит Иуда, один из Двенадцати, и с ним множество народа с мечами и кольями, от первосвященников и книжников и старейшин.

Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard."
Предающий же Его дал им знак, сказав: Кого я поцелую, Тот и есть, возьмите Его и ведите осторожно.

Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Rabbi!" and kissed him.
и, придя, тотчас подошел к Нему и говорит: Равви! Равви! и поцеловал Его.

The men seized Jesus and arrested him.
А они возложили на Него руки свои и взяли Его.

Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear.
Один же из стоявших тут извлек меч, ударил раба первосвященникова и отсек ему ухо.

"Am I leading a rebellion," said Jesus, "that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me?
Тогда Иисус сказал им: как будто на разбойника вышли вы с мечами и кольями, чтобы взять Меня.

Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled."
Каждый день бывал Я с вами в храме и учил, и вы не брали Меня. Но да сбудутся Писания.

Then everyone deserted him and fled.
Тогда, оставив Его, все бежали.

A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him,

he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.

They took Jesus to the high priest, and all the chief priests, elders and teachers of the law came together.

Peter followed him at a distance, right into the courtyard of the high priest. There he sat with the guards and warmed himself at the fire.
Петр издали следовал за Ним, даже внутрь двора первосвященникова; и сидел со служителями, и грелся у огня.

The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any.
Первосвященники же и весь синедрион искали свидетельства на Иисуса, чтобы предать Его смерти; и не находили.

Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.
Ибо многие лжесвидетельствовали на Него, но свидетельства сии не были достаточны.

Then some stood up and gave this false testimony against him:
И некоторые, встав, лжесвидетельствовали против Него и говорили:

"We heard him say, 'I will destroy this man-made temple and in three days will build another, not made by man.' "
мы слышали, как Он говорил: "Я разрушу храм сей рукотворенный, и через три дня воздвигну другой, нерукотворенный".

Yet even then their testimony did not agree.
Но и такое свидетельство их не было достаточно.

Then the high priest stood up before them and asked Jesus, "Are you not going to answer? What is this testimony that these men are bringing against you?"
Тогда первосвященник стал посреди и спросил Иисуса: что Ты ничего не отвечаешь? что они против Тебя свидетельствуют?

But Jesus remained silent and gave no answer. Again the high priest asked him, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?"
Но Он молчал и не отвечал ничего. Опять первосвященник спросил Его и сказал Ему: Ты ли Христос, Сын Благословенного?

"I am," said Jesus. "And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven."
Иисус сказал: Я, и вы узрите Сына Человеческого, сидящего одесную Силы и грядущего на облаках небесных.

The high priest tore his clothes. "Why do we need any more witnesses?" he asked.
Тогда первосвященник, разодрав одежды свои, сказал: на что еще нам свидетелей?

"You have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?" They all condemned him as worthy of death.
Вы слышали богохульство; как вам кажется?Они же все признали Его повинным смерти.

Then some began to spit at him; they blindfolded him, struck him with their fists, and said, "Prophesy!" And the guards took him and beat him.
И некоторые начали плевать на Него и, закрывая Ему лицо, ударять Его и говорить Ему: прореки. И слуги били Его по ланитам.

While Peter was below in the courtyard, one of the servant girls of the high priest came by.

When she saw Peter warming himself, she looked closely at him. "You also were with that Nazarene, Jesus," she said.

But he denied it. "I don't know or understand what you're talking about," he said, and went out into the entryway.
Но он отрекся, сказав: не знаю и не понимаю, что ты говоришь. И вышел вон на передний двор; и запел петух.

When the servant girl saw him there, she said again to those standing around, "This fellow is one of them."
Служанка, увидев его опять, начала говорить стоявшим тут: этот из них.

Again he denied it. After a little while, those standing near said to Peter, "Surely you are one of them, for you are a Galilean."
Он опять отрекся.Спустя немного, стоявшие тут опять стали говорить Петру: точно ты из них; ибо ты Галилеянин, и наречие твое сходно.

He began to call down curses on himself, and he swore to them, "I don't know this man you're talking about."
Он же начал клясться и божиться: не знаю Человека Сего, о Котором говорите.

Immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Then Peter remembered the word Jesus had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows twice you will disown me three times." And he broke down and wept.
Тогда петух запел во второй раз. И вспомнил Петр слово, сказанное ему Иисусом: "прежде нежели петух пропоет дважды, трижды отречешься от Меня"; и начал плакать.

Very early in the morning, the chief priests, with the elders, the teachers of the law and the whole Sanhedrin, reached a decision. They bound Jesus, led him away and handed him over to Pilate.
Немедленно поутру первосвященники со старейшинами и книжниками и весь синедрион составили совещание и, связав Иисуса, отвели и предали Пилату.

"Are you the king of the Jews?" asked Pilate. "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.
Пилат спросил Его: Ты Царь Иудейский?Он же сказал ему в ответ: ты говоришь.

The chief priests accused him of many things.

So again Pilate asked him, "Aren't you going to answer? See how many things they are accusing you of."

But Jesus still made no reply, and Pilate was amazed.

Now it was the custom at the Feast to release a prisoner whom the people requested.
На всякий же праздник отпускал он им одного узника, о котором просили.

A man called Barabbas was in prison with the insurrectionists who had committed murder in the uprising.
Тогда был в узах некто, по имени Варавва, со своими сообщниками, которые во время мятежа сделали убийство.

The crowd came up and asked Pilate to do for them what he usually did.
И народ начал кричать и просить Пилата о том, что он всегда делал для них.

"Do you want me to release to you the king of the Jews?" asked Pilate,
Он сказал им в ответ: хотите ли, отпущу вам Царя Иудейского?

knowing it was out of envy that the chief priests had handed Jesus over to him.
Ибо знал, что первосвященники предали Его из зависти.

But the chief priests stirred up the crowd to have Pilate release Barabbas instead.
Но первосвященники возбудили народ просить, чтобы отпустил им лучше Варавву.

"What shall I do, then, with the one you call the king of the Jews?" Pilate asked them.
Пилат, отвечая, опять сказал им: что же хотите, чтобы я сделал с Тем, Которого вы называете Царем Иудейским?

"Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!"

Wanting to satisfy the crowd, Pilate released Barabbas to them. He had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucified.

The soldiers led Jesus away into the palace (that is, the Praetorium) and called together the whole company of soldiers.

They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him.

And they began to call out to him, "Hail, king of the Jews!"

Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him.

And when they had mocked him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him out to crucify him.
Когда же насмеялись над Ним, сняли с Него багряницу, одели Его в собственные одежды Его и повели Его, чтобы распять Его.

A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross.
И заставили проходящего некоего Киринеянина Симона, отца Александрова и Руфова, идущего с поля, нести крест Его.

They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull).
И привели Его на место Голгофу, что значит: "Лобное место".

Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it.
И давали Ему пить вино со смирною; но Он не принял.

And they crucified him. Dividing up his clothes, they cast lots to see what each would get.
Распявшие Его делили одежды Его, бросая жребий, кому что взять.

It was the third hour when they crucified him.
Был час третий, и распяли Его.

The written notice of the charge against him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS.
И была надпись вины Его: "Царь Иудейский".

They crucified two robbers with him, one on his right and one on his left.

And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads and saying, "So! You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,
Проходящие злословили Его, кивая головами своими и говоря: э! разрушающий храм и в три дня созидающий!

come down from the cross and save yourself!"
Спаси Себя Самого и сойди со креста.

In the same way the chief priests and the teachers of the law mocked him among themselves. "He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself!
Подобно и первосвященники с книжниками, насмехаясь, говорили друг другу: других спасал, а Себя не может спасти.

Let this Christ, this King of Israel, come down now from the cross, that we may see and believe." Those crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
Христос, Царь Израилев, пусть сойдет теперь с креста, чтобы мы видели, и уверуем. И распятые с Ним поносили Его.

At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour.
В шестом же часу настала тьма по всей земле и продолжалась до часа девятого.

And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani? "-- which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"

When some of those standing near heard this, they said, "Listen, he's calling Elijah."

One man ran, filled a sponge with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to take him down," he said.

With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.

The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

And when the centurion, who stood there in front of Jesus, heard his cry and saw how he died, he said, "Surely this man was the Son of God!"

Some women were watching from a distance. Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James the younger and of Joses, and Salome.

In Galilee these women had followed him and cared for his needs. Many other women who had come up with him to Jerusalem were also there.

It was Preparation Day (that is, the day before the Sabbath). So as evening approached,

Joseph of Arimathea, a prominent member of the Council, who was himself waiting for the kingdom of God, went boldly to Pilate and asked for Jesus' body.
пришел Иосиф из Аримафеи, знаменитый член совета, который и сам ожидал Царствия Божия, осмелился войти к Пилату, и просил тела Иисусова.

Pilate was surprised to hear that he was already dead. Summoning the centurion, he asked him if Jesus had already died.
Пилат удивился, что Он уже умер, и, призвав сотника, спросил его, давно ли умер?

When he learned from the centurion that it was so, he gave the body to Joseph.
И, узнав от сотника, отдал тело Иосифу.

So Joseph bought some linen cloth, took down the body, wrapped it in the linen, and placed it in a tomb cut out of rock. Then he rolled a stone against the entrance of the tomb.

When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body.

Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb

But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away.

As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed.

"Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' "

Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid.

When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons.

She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping.
Она пошла и возвестила бывшим с Ним, плачущим и рыдающим;

When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it.

Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country.

These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either.

Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen.
Наконец, явился самим одиннадцати, возлежавшим на вечери, и упрекал их за неверие и жестокосердие, что видевшим Его воскресшего не поверили.

He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.
И сказал им: идите по всему миру и проповедуйте Евангелие всей твари.

Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Кто будет веровать и креститься, спасен будет; а кто не будет веровать, осужден будет.

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
Уверовавших же будут сопровождать сии знамения: именем Моим будут изгонять бесов; будут говорить новыми языками;

they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well."
Будут брать змей; и если что смертоносное выпьют, не повредит им; возложат руки на больных, и они будут здоровы.

After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.
И так ГОСПОДЬ, после беседования с ними, вознесся на небо и воссел одесную Бога.

Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
А они пошли и проповедовали везде, при ГОСПОДНЕМ содействии и подкреплении слова последующими знамениями.Аминь.

Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled among us,

Both of them were upright in the sight of God, observing all the Lord's commandments and regulations blamelessly.

But they had no children, because Elizabeth was barren; and they were both well along in years.

Once when Zechariah's division was on duty and he was serving as priest before God,

he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to go into the temple of the Lord and burn incense.

And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside.
а все множество народа молилось вне во время каждения,—

Then an angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
тогда явился ему Ангел ГОСПОДЕНЬ, стоя по правую сторону жертвенника кадильного.

When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear.
Захария, увидев его, смутился, и страх напал на него.

But the angel said to him: "Do not be afraid, Zechariah; your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to give him the name John.
Ангел же сказал ему: не бойся, Захария, ибо услышана молитва твоя, и жена твоя Елисавета родит тебе сына, и наречешь ему имя: Иоанн;

He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth,
и будет тебе радость и веселие, и многие о рождении его возрадуются,

for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth.
ибо он будет велик пред ГОСПОДОМ; не будет пить вина и сикера, и Духа Святого исполнится еще от чрева матери своей;

Many of the people of Israel will he bring back to the Lord their God.
и многих из сынов Израилевых обратит к ГОСПОДУ Богу их;

And he will go on before the Lord, in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to their children and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous-- to make ready a people prepared for the Lord."
и предыдет пред Ним в духе и силе Илии, чтобы возвратить сердца отцов детям, и непокоривым образ мыслей праведников, дабы представить ГОСПОДУ народ приготовленный.

Zechariah asked the angel, "How can I be sure of this? I am an old man and my wife is well along in years."
И сказал Захария Ангелу: по чему я узнаю это? ибо я стар, и жена моя в летах преклонных.

The angel answered, "I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news.
Ангел сказал ему в ответ: я Гавриил, предстоящий пред Богом, и послан говорить с тобою и благовестить тебе сие;

And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their proper time."
и вот, ты будешь молчать и не будешь иметь возможности говорить до того дня, как это сбудется, за то, что ты не поверил словам моим, которые сбудутся в свое время.

Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering why he stayed so long in the temple.
Между тем народ ожидал Захарию и дивился, что он медлит в храме.

When he came out, he could not speak to them. They realized he had seen a vision in the temple, for he kept making signs to them but remained unable to speak.
Он же, выйдя, не мог говорить к ним; и они поняли, что он видел видение в храме; и он объяснялся с ними знаками, и оставался нем.

When his time of service was completed, he returned home.
А когда окончились дни службы его, возвратился в дом свой.

After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion.

"The Lord has done this for me," she said. "In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people."

In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee,
В шестой же месяц послан был Ангел Гавриил от Бога в город Галилейский, называемый Назарет,

to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary.
к Деве, обрученной мужу, именем Иосифу, из дома Давидова; имя же Деве: Мария.

The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you."
Ангел, войдя к ней, сказал: радуйся, Благодатная! ГОСПОДЬ с Тобою; благословенна Ты между женами.

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
Она же, увидев его, смутилась от слов его и размышляла, что бы это было за приветствие.

But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.
И сказал Ей Ангел: не бойся, Мария, ибо Ты обрела благодать у Бога;

You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus.
и вот, зачнешь во чреве, и родишь Сына, и наречешь Ему имя: Иисус.

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David,
Он будет велик и наречется Сыном Всевышнего, и даст Ему ГОСПОДЬ Бог престол Давида, отца Его;

and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever; his kingdom will never end."
и будет царствовать над домом Иакова вовеки, и Царству Его не будет конца.

"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?"
Мария же сказала Ангелу: как будет это, когда Я мужа не знаю?

The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God.
Ангел сказал Ей в ответ: Дух Святой найдет на Тебя, и сила Всевышнего осенит Тебя; посему и рождаемое Святое наречется Сыном Божиим.

Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month.
Вот и Елисавета, родственница Твоя, называемая неплодною, и она зачала сына в старости своей, и ей уже шестой месяц,

For nothing is impossible with God."

"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. "May it be to me as you have said." Then the angel left her.
Тогда Мария сказала: се, Раба ГОСПОДНЯ; да будет Мне по слову твоему. И отошел от Нее Ангел.

At that time Mary got ready and hurried to a town in the hill country of Judea,
Встав же Мария во дни сии, с поспешностью пошла в нагорную страну, в город Иудин,

where she entered Zechariah's home and greeted Elizabeth.
и вошла в дом Захарии, и приветствовала Елисавету.

When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
Когда Елисавета услышала приветствие Марии, взыграл младенец во чреве ее; и Елисавета исполнилась Святого Духа,

In a loud voice she exclaimed: "Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!
и воскликнула громким голосом, и сказала: благословенна Ты между женами, и благословен плод чрева Твоего!

But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
И откуда это мне, что пришла Матерь ГОСПОДА моего ко мне?

As soon as the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
Ибо когда голос приветствия Твоего дошел до слуха моего, взыграл младенец радостно во чреве моем.

Blessed is she who has believed that what the Lord has said to her will be accomplished!"
И блаженна Уверовавшая, потому что совершится сказанное Ей от ГОСПОДА.

And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the Lord
И сказала Мария: величит душа Моя ГОСПОДА,

and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
и возрадовался дух Мой о Боге, Спасителе Моем,

for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed,
что призрел Он на смирение Рабы Своей, ибо отныне будут ублажать Меня все роды;

for the Mighty One has done great things for me-- holy is his name.
что сотворил Мне величие Сильный, и свято имя Его;

His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.
и милость Его в роды родов к боящимся Его;

He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
явил силу мышцы Своей; рассеял надменных помышлениями сердца их;

He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble.
низложил сильных с престолов, и вознес смиренных;

He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.

He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful
воспринял Израиля, отрока Своего, воспомянув милость,

to Abraham and his descendants forever, even as he said to our fathers."
как говорил отцам нашим, к Аврааму и семени его до века.

Mary stayed with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned home.
Пребыла же Мария с нею около трех месяцев, и возвратилась в дом свой.

When it was time for Elizabeth to have her baby, she gave birth to a son.
Елисавете же настало время родить, и она родила сына.

Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown her great mercy, and they shared her joy.
И услышали соседи и родственники ее, что возвеличил ГОСПОДЬ милость Свою над нею, и радовались с нею.

On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him after his father Zechariah,
В восьмой день пришли обрезать младенца и хотели назвать его, по имени отца его, Захариею.

but his mother spoke up and said, "No! He is to be called John."
На это мать его сказала: нет, а назвать его Иоанном.

They said to her, "There is no one among your relatives who has that name."
И сказали ей: никого нет в родстве твоем, кто назывался бы сим именем.

Then they made signs to his father, to find out what he would like to name the child.
И спрашивали знаками у отца его, как бы он хотел назвать его.

He asked for a writing tablet, and to everyone's astonishment he wrote, "His name is John."
Он потребовал дощечку и написал: "Иоанн имя ему". И все удивились.

Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue was loosed, and he began to speak, praising God.
И тотчас разрешились уста его и язык его, и он стал говорить, благословляя Бога.

The neighbors were all filled with awe, and throughout the hill country of Judea people were talking about all these things.
И был страх на всех, живущих вокруг них; и рассказывали обо всем этом по всей нагорной стране Иудейской.

Everyone who heard this wondered about it, asking, "What then is this child going to be?" For the Lord's hand was with him.
Все слышавшие положили это на сердце своем и говорили: что будет младенец сей? И рука ГОСПОДНЯ была с ним.

His father Zechariah was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:
И Захария, отец его, исполнился Святого Духа и пророчествовал, говоря:

"Praise be to the Lord, the God of Israel, because he has come and has redeemed his people.
благословен ГОСПОДЬ Бог Израилев, что посетил народ Свой и сотворил избавление ему,

He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David
и воздвиг рог спасения нам в дому Давида, отрока Своего,

(as he said through his holy prophets of long ago),
как возвестил устами бывших от века святых пророков Своих,

salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us--
что спасет нас от врагов наших и от руки всех ненавидящих нас;

to show mercy to our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,
сотворит милость с отцами нашими и помянет святой завет Свой,

the oath he swore to our father Abraham:
клятву, которою клялся Он Аврааму, отцу нашему, дать нам,

to rescue us from the hand of our enemies, and to enable us to serve him without fear
небоязненно, по избавлении от руки врагов наших,

in holiness and righteousness before him all our days.
служить Ему в святости и правде пред Ним, во все дни жизни нашей.

And you, my child, will be called a prophet of the Most High; for you will go on before the Lord to prepare the way for him,
И ты, младенец, наречешься пророком Всевышнего, ибо предыдешь пред лицом ГОСПОДА приготовить пути Ему,

to give his people the knowledge of salvation through the forgiveness of their sins,
дать уразуметь народу Его спасение в прощении грехов их,

because of the tender mercy of our God, by which the rising sun will come to us from heaven
по благоутробному милосердию Бога нашего, которым посетил нас Восток свыше,

to shine on those living in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the path of peace."
просветить сидящих во тьме и тени смертной, направить ноги наши на путь мира.

And the child grew and became strong in spirit; and he lived in the desert until he appeared publicly to Israel.
Младенец же возрастал и укреплялся духом, и был в пустынях до дня явления своего Израилю.

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world.
В те дни вышло от кесаря Августа повеление сделать перепись по всей земле.

(This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.)

And everyone went to his own town to register.
И пошли все записываться, каждый в свой город.

So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David.

He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child.

While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born,
Когда же они были там, наступило время родить Ей;

and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.
В той стране были на поле пастухи, которые содержали ночную стражу у стада своего.

An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified.
Вдруг предстал им Ангел ГОСПОДЕНЬ, и слава ГОСПОДНЯ осияла их; и убоялись страхом великим.

But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
И сказал им Ангел: не бойтесь; я возвещаю вам великую радость, которая будет всем людям:

Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.
ибо ныне родился вам в городе Давидовом Спаситель, Который есть Христос ГОСПОДЬ;

This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger."
и вот вам знак: вы найдете Младенца в пеленах, лежащего в яслях.

Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,
И внезапно явилось с Ангелом многочисленное воинство небесное, славящее Бога и взывающее:

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests."
слава в вышних Богу, и на земле мир, в человеках благоволение!

When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about."

So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger.

When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child,

and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them.

But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart.

The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
И возвратились пастухи, славя и хваля Бога за все то, что слышали и видели, как им сказано было.

On the eighth day, when it was time to circumcise him, he was named Jesus, the name the angel had given him before he had been conceived.
По прошествии восьми дней, когда надлежало обрезать Младенца, дали Ему имя Иисус, нареченное Ангелом прежде зачатия Его во чреве.

When the time of their purification according to the Law of Moses had been completed, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord
А когда исполнились дни очищения их по закону Моисееву,|| принесли Его в Иерусалим, чтобы представить пред ГОСПОДА,

(as it is written in the Law of the Lord, "Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord"),

and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: "a pair of doves or two young pigeons."

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.
Тогда был в Иерусалиме человек, именем Симеон. Он был муж праведный и благочестивый, чающий утешения Израилева; и Дух Святой был на нем.

It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord's Christ.
Ему было предсказано Духом Святым, что он не увидит смерти, доколе не увидит Христа ГОСПОДНЯ.

Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required,
И пришел он по вдохновению в храм. И, когда родители принесли Младенца Иисуса, чтобы совершить над Ним законный обряд,

Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:

"Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace.

For my eyes have seen your salvation,

which you have prepared in the sight of all people,

a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
свет к просвещению язычников и славу народа Твоего Израиля.

The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him.
Иосиф же и Матерь Его дивились сказанному о Нем.

Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against,
И благословил их Симеон, и сказал Марии, Матери Его: се, лежит Сей на падение и на восстание многих в Израиле и в предмет пререканий,—

so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."
и Тебе Самой оружие пройдет душу,— да откроются помышления многих сердец.

There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was very old; she had lived with her husband seven years after her marriage,
Тут была также Анна пророчица, дочь Фануилова, от колена Асирова, достигшая глубокой старости, прожив с мужем от девства своего семь лет,

and then was a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.
вдова лет восьмидесяти четырех, которая не отходила от храма, постом и молитвою служа Богу день и ночь.

Coming up to them at that very moment, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were looking forward to the redemption of Jerusalem.
И она в то время, подойдя, славила ГОСПОДА и говорила о Нем всем, ожидавшим избавления в Иерусалиме.

When Joseph and Mary had done everything required by the Law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee to their own town of Nazareth.
И когда они совершили все по закону ГОСПОДНЮ, возвратились в Галилею, в город свой Назарет.

And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was upon him.
Младенец же возрастал и укреплялся духом, исполняясь премудрости, и благодать Божия была на Нем.

Every year his parents went to Jerusalem for the Feast of the Passover.
Каждый год родители Его ходили в Иерусалим на праздник Пасхи.

When he was twelve years old, they went up to the Feast, according to the custom.

After the Feast was over, while his parents were returning home, the boy Jesus stayed behind in Jerusalem, but they were unaware of it.
Когда же, по окончании дней праздника, возвращались, остался Отрок Иисус в Иерусалиме; и не заметили того Иосиф и Матерь Его,

Thinking he was in their company, they traveled on for a day. Then they began looking for him among their relatives and friends.
но думали, что Он идет с другими. Пройдя же дневной путь, стали искать Его между родственниками и знакомыми

When they did not find him, they went back to Jerusalem to look for him.
и, не найдя Его, возвратились в Иерусалим, ища Его.

After three days they found him in the temple courts, sitting among the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions.
Через три дня нашли Его в храме, сидящего посреди учителей, слушающего их и спрашивающего их;

Everyone who heard him was amazed at his understanding and his answers.
все слушавшие Его дивились разуму и ответам Его.

When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, "Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you."
И, увидев Его, удивились; и Матерь Его сказала Ему: Чадо! что Ты сделал с нами? Вот, отец Твой и Я с великою скорбью искали Тебя.

"Why were you searching for me?" he asked. "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?"
Он сказал им: зачем было вам искать Меня? или вы не знали, что Мне должно быть в том, что принадлежит Отцу Моему?

But they did not understand what he was saying to them.
Но они не поняли сказанных Им слов.

Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
И Он пошел с ними и пришел в Назарет; и был в повиновении у них. И Матерь Его сохраняла все слова сии в сердце Своем.

And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.
Иисус же преуспевал в премудрости и возрасте и в любви у Бога и человеков.

In the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar-- when Pontius Pilate was governor of Judea, Herod tetrarch of Galilee, his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea and Traconitis, and Lysanias tetrarch of Abilene--

during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiaphas, the word of God came to John son of Zechariah in the desert.

He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins.

As is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet: "A voice of one calling in the desert, 'Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for him.

John said to the crowds coming out to be baptized by him, "You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath?

Produce fruit in keeping with repentance. And do not begin to say to yourselves, 'We have Abraham as our father.' For I tell you that out of these stones God can raise up children for Abraham.

The ax is already at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire."
Уже и секира при корне дерев лежит: всякое дерево, не приносящее доброго плода, срубают и бросают в огонь.

"What should we do then?" the crowd asked.
И спрашивал его народ: что же нам делать?

John answered, "The man with two tunics should share with him who has none, and the one who has food should do the same."
Он сказал им в ответ: у кого две одежды, тот дай неимущему, и у кого есть пища, делай то же.

Tax collectors also came to be baptized. "Teacher," they asked, "what should we do?"
Пришли и мытари креститься, и сказали ему: учитель! что нам делать?

"Don't collect any more than you are required to," he told them.
Он отвечал им: ничего не требуйте более определенного вам.

Then some soldiers asked him, "And what should we do?" He replied, "Don't extort money and don't accuse people falsely-- be content with your pay."

The people were waiting expectantly and were all wondering in their hearts if John might possibly be the Christ.
Когда же народ был в ожидании, и все помышляли в сердцах своих об Иоанне, не Христос ли он,—

John answered them all, "I baptize you with water. But one more powerful than I will come, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.
Иоанн всем отвечал: я крещу вас водою, но идет Сильнейший меня, у Которого я недостоин развязать ремень обуви; Он будет крестить вас Духом Святым и огнем.

His winnowing fork is in his hand to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his barn, but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

And with many other words John exhorted the people and preached the good news to them.

But when John rebuked Herod the tetrarch because of Herodias, his brother's wife, and all the other evil things he had done,

Herod added this to them all: He locked John up in prison.

When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened

and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased."

where for forty days he was tempted by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
Там сорок дней Он был искушаем от диавола и ничего не ел в эти дни, а по прошествии их напоследок взалкал.

The devil said to him, "If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread."
И сказал Ему диавол: если Ты Сын Божий, то вели этому камню сделаться хлебом.

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Man does not live on bread alone.' "
Иисус сказал ему в ответ: написано, что не хлебом одним будет жить человек, но всяким словом Божиим.

The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world.
И, возведя Его на высокую гору, диавол показал Ему все царства вселенной во мгновение времени,

And he said to him, "I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to.
и сказал Ему диавол: Тебе дам власть над всеми сими царствами и славу их, ибо она предана мне, и я, кому хочу, даю ее;

So if you worship me, it will all be yours."
итак, если Ты поклонишься мне, то все будет Твое.

Jesus answered, "It is written: 'Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.' "
Иисус сказал ему в ответ: отойди от Меня, сатана; написано: "ГОСПОДУ Богу твоему поклоняйся, и Ему одному служи".

The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. "If you are the Son of God," he said, "throw yourself down from here.
И повел Его в Иерусалим, и поставил Его на крыле храма, и сказал Ему: если Ты Сын Божий, бросься отсюда вниз,

For it is written: " 'He will command his angels concerning you to guard you carefully;
ибо написано: "Ангелам Своим заповедает о Тебе сохранить Тебя;

they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.' "
и на руках понесут Тебя, да не преткнешься о камень ногою Твоею".

Jesus answered, "It says: 'Do not put the Lord your God to the test.' "
Иисус сказал ему в ответ: сказано: "не искушай ГОСПОДА Бога твоего".

When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.
И, окончив все искушение, диавол отошел от Него до времени.

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside.
И возвратился Иисус в силе духа в Галилею; и разнеслась молва о Нем по всей окрестной стране.

He taught in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.
Он учил в синагогах их, и от всех был прославляем.

He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. And he stood up to read.
И пришел в Назарет, где был воспитан, и вошел, по обыкновению Своему, в день субботний в синагогу, и встал читать.

The scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:
Ему подали книгу пророка Исаии; и Он, раскрыв книгу, нашел место, где было написано:

"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed,
"Дух ГОСПОДЕНЬ на Мне; ибо Он помазал Меня благовествовать нищим, и послал Меня исцелять сокрушенных сердцем, проповедовать пленным освобождение, слепым прозрение, отпустить измученных на свободу,

to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him,
И, закрыв книгу и отдав служителю, сел; и глаза всех в синагоге были устремлены на Него.

and he began by saying to them, "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing."
И Он начал говорить им: ныне исполнилось писание сие, слышанное вами.

All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. "Isn't this Joseph's son?" they asked.
И все засвидетельствовали Ему это,|| и дивились словам благодати, исходившим из уст Его, и говорили: не Иосифов ли это сын?

Jesus said to them, "Surely you will quote this proverb to me: 'Physician, heal yourself! Do here in your hometown what we have heard that you did in Capernaum.' "
Он сказал им: конечно, вы скажете Мне присловие: "врач! исцели Самого Себя; сделай и здесь, в Твоем отечестве, то, что, мы слышали, было в Капернауме".

"I tell you the truth," he continued, "no prophet is accepted in his hometown.
И сказал: истинно говорю вам: никакой пророк не принимается в своем отечестве.

I assure you that there were many widows in Israel in Elijah's time, when the sky was shut for three and a half years and there was a severe famine throughout the land.
Поистине говорю вам: много вдов было в Израиле во дни Илии, когда заключено было небо три года и шесть месяцев, так что сделался большой голод по всей земле,

Yet Elijah was not sent to any of them, but to a widow in Zarephath in the region of Sidon.
и ни к одной из них не был послан Илия, а только ко вдове в Сарепту Сидонскую;

And there were many in Israel with leprosy in the time of Elisha the prophet, yet not one of them was cleansed-- only Naaman the Syrian."
много также было прокаженных в Израиле при пророке Елисее, и ни один из них не очистился, кроме Неемана Сириянина.

All the people in the synagogue were furious when they heard this.
Услышав это, все в синагоге исполнились ярости

They got up, drove him out of the town, and took him to the brow of the hill on which the town was built, in order to throw him down the cliff.
и, встав, выгнали Его вон из города, и повели на вершину горы, на которой город их был построен, чтобы свергнуть Его;

But he walked right through the crowd and went on his way.
но Он, пройдя посреди них, удалился.

Then he went down to Capernaum, a town in Galilee, and on the Sabbath began to teach the people.
И пришел в Капернаум, город Галилейский, и учил их в дни субботние.

They were amazed at his teaching, because his message had authority.
И дивились учению Его, ибо слово Его было со властью.

In the synagogue there was a man possessed by a demon, an evil spirit. He cried out at the top of his voice,
Был в синагоге человек, имевший нечистого духа бесовского, и он закричал громким голосом:

"Ha! What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are-- the Holy One of God!"
оставь; что Тебе до нас, Иисус Назарянин? Ты пришел погубить нас; знаю Тебя, кто Ты, Святой Божий.

"Be quiet!" Jesus said sternly. "Come out of him!" Then the demon threw the man down before them all and came out without injuring him.
Иисус запретил ему, сказав: замолчи и выйди из него. И бес, повергнув его посреди синагоги, вышел из него, нимало не повредив ему.

All the people were amazed and said to each other, "What is this teaching? With authority and power he gives orders to evil spirits and they come out!"
И напал на всех ужас, и рассуждали между собою: что это значит, что Он со властью и силою повелевает нечистым духам, и они выходят?

And the news about him spread throughout the surrounding area.
И разнесся слух о Нем по всем окрестным местам.

Jesus left the synagogue and went to the home of Simon. Now Simon's mother-in-law was suffering from a high fever, and they asked Jesus to help her.
Выйдя из синагоги, Он вошел в дом Симона; теща же Симонова была одержима сильною горячкою; и просили Его о ней.

So he bent over her and rebuked the fever, and it left her. She got up at once and began to wait on them.
Подойдя к ней, Он запретил горячке; и оставила ее. Она тотчас встала и служила им.

When the sun was setting, the people brought to Jesus all who had various kinds of sickness, and laying his hands on each one, he healed them.
При захождении же солнца все, имевшие больных различными болезнями, приводили их к Нему, и Он, возлагая на каждого из них руки, исцелял их.

Moreover, demons came out of many people, shouting, "You are the Son of God!" But he rebuked them and would not allow them to speak, because they knew he was the Christ.
Выходили также и бесы из многих с криком и говорили: Ты Христос, Сын Божий.А Он запрещал им сказывать, что они знают, что Он Христос.

At daybreak Jesus went out to a solitary place. The people were looking for him and when they came to where he was, they tried to keep him from leaving them.
Когда же настал день, Он, выйдя из дома, пошел в пустынное место, и народ искал Его и, придя к Нему, удерживал Его, чтобы не уходил от них.

But he said, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent."
Но Он сказал им: и другим городам благовествовать Я должен Царствие Божие, ибо на то Я послан.

And he kept on preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
И проповедовал в синагогах Галилейских.

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, with the people crowding around him and listening to the word of God,
Однажды, когда народ теснился к Нему, чтобы слышать слово Божие, а Он стоял у озера Геннисаретского,

he saw at the water's edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets.
увидел Он две лодки, стоящие на озере; а рыболовы, выйдя из них, вымывали сети.

He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
Войдя в одну лодку, которая была Симонова, Он просил его отплыть несколько от берега и, сев, учил народ из лодки.

When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, "Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch."
Когда же перестал учить, сказал Симону: отплыви на глубину, и закиньте сети свои для лова.

Simon answered, "Master, we've worked hard all night and haven't caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets."
Симон сказал Ему в ответ: Наставник! мы трудились всю ночь и ничего не поймали, но по слову Твоему закину сеть.

When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.
Сделав это, они поймали великое множество рыбы, и даже сеть у них прорывалась.

So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
И дали знак товарищам, находившимся на другой лодке, чтобы пришли помочь им; и пришли, и наполнили обе лодки, так что они начинали тонуть.

When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus' knees and said, "Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!"
Увидев это, Симон Петр припал к коленям Иисуса и сказал: выйди от меня, ГОСПОДИ! потому что я человек грешный.

For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken,
Ибо ужас объял его и всех, бывших с ним, от этого лова рыб, ими пойманных;

and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon's partners. Then Jesus said to Simon, "Don't be afraid; from now on you will catch men."
также и Иакова и Иоанна, сыновей Зеведеевых, бывших товарищами Симону.И сказал Симону Иисус: не бойся; отныне будешь ловить человеков.

So they pulled their boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.
И, вытащив обе лодки на берег, оставили все и последовали за Ним.

While Jesus was in one of the towns, a man came along who was covered with leprosy. When he saw Jesus, he fell with his face to the ground and begged him, "Lord, if you are willing, you can make me clean."
Когда Иисус был в одном городе, пришел человек весь в проказе и, увидев Иисуса, пал ниц, умоляя Его и говоря: ГОСПОДИ! если хочешь, можешь меня очистить.

Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" And immediately the leprosy left him.
Он простер руку, прикоснулся к нему и сказал: хочу, очистись. И тотчас проказа сошла с него.

Then Jesus ordered him, "Don't tell anyone, but go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them."
И Он повелел ему никому не сказывать, а пойти показаться священнику и принести жертву за очищение свое, как повелел Моисей, во свидетельство им.

Yet the news about him spread all the more, so that crowds of people came to hear him and to be healed of their sicknesses.
Но тем более распространялась молва о Нем, и великое множество народа стекалось к Нему слушать и врачеваться у Него от болезней своих.

But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.
Но Он уходил в пустынные места и молился.

One day as he was teaching, Pharisees and teachers of the law, who had come from every village of Galilee and from Judea and Jerusalem, were sitting there. And the power of the Lord was present for him to heal the sick.
В один день, когда Он учил, и сидели тут фарисеи и законоучители, пришедшие из всех мест Галилеи и Иудеи и из Иерусалима, и сила ГОСПОДНЯ являлась в исцелении больных,—

Some men came carrying a paralytic on a mat and tried to take him into the house to lay him before Jesus.
вот, принесли некоторые на постели человека, который был расслаблен, и старались внести его в дом и положить перед Иисусом;

When they could not find a way to do this because of the crowd, they went up on the roof and lowered him on his mat through the tiles into the middle of the crowd, right in front of Jesus.
и, не найдя, где пронести его за многолюдством, влезли на верх дома и сквозь кровлю спустили его с постелью на средину пред Иисуса.

When Jesus saw their faith, he said, "Friend, your sins are forgiven."
И Он, видя веру их, сказал человеку тому: прощаются тебе грехи твои.

The Pharisees and the teachers of the law began thinking to themselves, "Who is this fellow who speaks blasphemy? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
Книжники и фарисеи начали рассуждать, говоря: кто это, который богохульствует? кто может прощать грехи, кроме одного Бога?

Jesus knew what they were thinking and asked, "Why are you thinking these things in your hearts?
Иисус, уразумев помышления их, сказал им в ответ: что вы помышляете в сердцах ваших?

Which is easier: to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?
Что легче сказать: "прощаются тебе грехи твои", или сказать: "встань и ходи"?

But that you may know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins..." He said to the paralyzed man, "I tell you, get up, take your mat and go home."
Но чтобы вы знали, что Сын Человеческий имеет власть на земле прощать грехи,— сказал Он расслабленному: тебе говорю: встань, возьми постель твою и иди в дом твой.

Immediately he stood up in front of them, took what he had been lying on and went home praising God.
И он тотчас встал перед ними, взял на чем лежал и пошел в дом свой, славя Бога.

Everyone was amazed and gave praise to God. They were filled with awe and said, "We have seen remarkable things today."
И ужас объял всех, и славили Бога и, быв исполнены страха, говорили: чудные дела видели мы ныне.

After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. "Follow me," Jesus said to him,
После сего Иисус вышел и увидел мытаря, именем Левия, сидящего у сбора пошлин, и говорит ему: следуй за Мною.

and Levi got up, left everything and followed him.
И он, оставив все, встал и последовал за Ним.

Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.
И сделал для Него Левий в доме своем большое угощение; и там было множество мытарей и других, которые возлежали с ними.

But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law who belonged to their sect complained to his disciples, "Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and 'sinners'?"
Книжники же и фарисеи роптали и говорили ученикам Его: зачем вы едите и пьете с мытарями и грешниками?

Jesus answered them, "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick.
Иисус же сказал им в ответ: не здоровые имеют нужду во враче, но больные;

I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
Я пришел призвать не праведников, а грешников к покаянию.

They said to him, "John's disciples often fast and pray, and so do the disciples of the Pharisees, but yours go on eating and drinking."
Они же сказали Ему: почему ученики Иоанновы постятся часто и молитвы творят, также и фарисейские, а Твои едят и пьют?

Jesus answered, "Can you make the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them?
Он сказал им: можете ли заставить сынов чертога брачного поститься, когда с ними жених?

But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them; in those days they will fast."
Но придут дни, когда отнимется у них жених, и тогда будут поститься в те дни.

He told them this parable: "No one tears a patch from a new garment and sews it on an old one. If he does, he will have torn the new garment, and the patch from the new will not match the old.
При сем сказал им притчу: никто не приставляет заплаты к ветхой одежде, отодрав от новой одежды; а иначе и новую раздерет, и к старой не подойдет заплата от новой.

And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the new wine will burst the skins, the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined.
И никто не вливает молодого вина в мехи ветхие; а иначе молодое вино прорвет мехи, и само вытечет, и мехи пропадут;
