Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation,
Быв же спрошен фарисеями, когда придет Царствие Божие, отвечал им: не придет Царствие Божие приметным образом,

nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you."
и не скажут: "вот, оно здесь", или: "вот, там". Ибо вот, Царствие Божие внутрь вас есть.

Then he said to his disciples, "The time is coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, but you will not see it.
Сказал также ученикам: придут дни, когда пожелаете видеть хотя один из дней Сына Человеческого, и не увидите;

Men will tell you, 'There he is!' or 'Here he is!' Do not go running off after them.
и скажут вам: "вот, здесь", или: "вот, там",— не ходите и не гоняйтесь,

For the Son of Man in his day will be like the lightning, which flashes and lights up the sky from one end to the other.
ибо, как молния, сверкнувшая от одного края неба, блистает до другого края неба, так будет Сын Человеческий в день Свой.

But first he must suffer many things and be rejected by this generation.
Но прежде надлежит Ему много пострадать и быть отвержену родом сим.

"Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man.
И как было во дни Ноя, так будет и во дни Сына Человеческого:

People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all.
ели, пили, женились, выходили замуж, до того дня, как вошел Ной в ковчег, и пришел потоп и погубил всех.

"It was the same in the days of Lot. People were eating and drinking, buying and selling, planting and building.
Так же, как было и во дни Лота: ели, пили, покупали, продавали, садили, строили;

But the day Lot left Sodom, fire and sulfur rained down from heaven and destroyed them all.
но в день, в который Лот вышел из Содома, пролился с неба дождь огненный и серный и истребил всех;

"It will be just like this on the day the Son of Man is revealed.
так будет и в тот день, когда Сын Человеческий явится.

On that day no one who is on the roof of his house, with his goods inside, should go down to get them. Likewise, no one in the field should go back for anything.
В тот день, кто будет на кровле, а вещи его в доме, тот не сходи взять их; и кто будет на поле, также не обращайся назад.

Remember Lot's wife!
Вспоминайте жену Лотову.

Whoever tries to keep his life will lose it, and whoever loses his life will preserve it.
Кто станет сберегать душу свою, тот погубит ее; а кто погубит ее, тот оживит ее.

I tell you, on that night two people will be in one bed; one will be taken and the other left.
Сказываю вам: в ту ночь будут двое на одной постели: один возьмется, а другой оставится;

Two women will be grinding grain together; one will be taken and the other left. "
две будут молоть вместе: одна возьмется, а другая оставится;

Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
двое будут на поле: один возьмется, а другой оставится.

"Where, Lord?" they asked. He replied, "Where there is a dead body, there the vultures will gather."
На это сказали Ему: где, ГОСПОДИ?Он же сказал им: где труп, там соберутся и орлы.

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.
Сказал также им притчу о том, что должно всегда молиться и не унывать,

He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men.
говоря: в одном городе был судья, который Бога не боялся и людей не стыдился.

And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'
В том же городе была одна вдова, и она, приходя к нему, говорила: "защити меня от соперника моего".

"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men,
Но он долгое время не хотел. А после сказал сам в себе: "хотя я и Бога не боюсь и людей не стыжусь,

yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' "
но, как эта вдова не дает мне покоя, защищу ее, чтобы она не приходила больше докучать мне".

And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says.
И сказал ГОСПОДЬ: слышите, что говорит судья неправедный?

And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?
Бог ли не защитит избранных Своих, вопиющих к Нему день и ночь, хотя и медлит защищать их?

I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"
Сказываю вам, что подаст им защиту вскоре. Но Сын Человеческий, придя, найдет ли веру на земле?

To some who were confident of their own righteousness and looked down on everybody else, Jesus told this parable:
Сказал также к некоторым, которые уверены были о себе, что они праведны, и уничижали других, следующую притчу:

"Two men went up to the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
два человека вошли в храм помолиться: один фарисей, а другой мытарь.

The Pharisee stood up and prayed about himself: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men-- robbers, evildoers, adulterers-- or even like this tax collector.
Фарисей, став, молился сам в себе так: "Боже! благодарю Тебя, что я не таков, как прочие люди, грабители, обидчики, прелюбодеи, или как этот мытарь:

I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I get.'
пощусь два раза в неделю, даю десятую часть из всего, что приобретаю".

"But the tax collector stood at a distance. He would not even look up to heaven, but beat his breast and said, 'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
Мытарь же, стоя вдали, не смел даже поднять глаз на небо; но, ударяя себя в грудь, говорил: "Боже! будь милостив ко мне, грешнику!"

"I tell you that this man, rather than the other, went home justified before God. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted."
Сказываю вам, что сей пошел оправданным в дом свой более, нежели тот: ибо всякий, возвышающий сам себя, унижен будет, а унижающий себя возвысится.

People were also bringing babies to Jesus to have him touch them. When the disciples saw this, they rebuked them.
Приносили к Нему и младенцев, чтобы Он прикоснулся к ним; ученики же, видя то, возбраняли им.

But Jesus called the children to him and said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.
Но Иисус, подозвав их, сказал: пустите детей приходить ко Мне и не возбраняйте им, ибо таковых есть Царствие Божие.

I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it."
Истинно говорю вам: кто не примет Царствия Божия, как дитя, тот не войдет в него.

A certain ruler asked him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?"
И спросил Его некто из начальствующих: Учитель благий! что мне делать, чтобы наследовать жизнь вечную?

"Why do you call me good?" Jesus answered. "No one is good-- except God alone.
Иисус сказал ему: что ты называешь Меня благим? никто не благ, как только один Бог;

You know the commandments: 'Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.' "
знаешь заповеди: "не прелюбодействуй", "не убивай", "не кради", "не лжесвидетельствуй", "почитай отца твоего и матерь твою".

"All these I have kept since I was a boy," he said.
Он же сказал: все это сохранил я от юности моей.

When Jesus heard this, he said to him, "You still lack one thing. Sell everything you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven. Then come, follow me."
Услышав это, Иисус сказал ему: еще одного недостает тебе: все, что имеешь, продай и раздай нищим, и будешь иметь сокровище на небесах, и приходи, следуй за Мною.

When he heard this, he became very sad, because he was a man of great wealth.
Он же, услышав сие, опечалился, потому что был очень богат.

Jesus looked at him and said, "How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!
Иисус, видя, что он опечалился, сказал: как трудно имеющим богатство войти в Царствие Божие!

Indeed, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
Ибо удобнее верблюду пройти сквозь игольные уши, нежели богатому войти в Царствие Божие.

Those who heard this asked, "Who then can be saved?"
Слышавшие сие сказали: кто же может спастись?

Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."
Но Он сказал: невозможное человекам возможно Богу.

Peter said to him, "We have left all we had to follow you!"
Петр же сказал: вот, мы оставили все и последовали за Тобою.

"I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or wife or brothers or parents or children for the sake of the kingdom of God
Он сказал им: истинно говорю вам: нет никого, кто оставил бы дом, или родителей, или братьев, или сестер, или жену, или детей для Царствия Божия,

will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life."
и не получил бы гораздо более в сие время, и в век будущий жизни вечной.

Jesus took the Twelve aside and told them, "We are going up to Jerusalem, and everything that is written by the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.
Отозвав же двенадцать учеников Своих, сказал им: вот, мы восходим в Иерусалим, и совершится все, написанное через пророков о Сыне Человеческом,

He will be handed over to the Gentiles. They will mock him, insult him, spit on him, flog him and kill him.
ибо предадут Его язычникам, и поругаются над Ним, и оскорбят Его, и оплюют Его,

On the third day he will rise again."
и будут бить, и убьют Его: и в третий день воскреснет.

The disciples did not understand any of this. Its meaning was hidden from them, and they did not know what he was talking about.
Но они ничего из этого не поняли; слова сии были для них сокровенны, и они не разумели сказанного.

As Jesus approached Jericho, a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging.
Когда же подходил Он к Иерихону, один слепой сидел у дороги, прося милостыни,

When he heard the crowd going by, he asked what was happening.
и, услышав, что мимо него проходит народ, спросил: что это такое?

They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by."
Ему сказали, что Иисус Назорей идет.

He called out, "Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Тогда он закричал: Иисус, Сын Давидов! помилуй меня.

Those who led the way rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, "Son of David, have mercy on me!"
Шедшие впереди заставляли его молчать; но он еще громче кричал: Сын Давидов! помилуй меня.

Jesus stopped and ordered the man to be brought to him. When he came near, Jesus asked him,
Иисус, остановившись, велел привести его к Себе: и, когда тот подошел к Нему, спросил его:

"What do you want me to do for you?" "Lord, I want to see," he replied.
чего ты хочешь от Меня?Он сказал: ГОСПОДИ! чтобы мне прозреть.

Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has healed you."
Иисус сказал ему: прозри! вера твоя спасла тебя.

Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus, praising God. When all the people saw it, they also praised God.
И он тотчас прозрел и пошел за Ним, славя Бога; и весь народ, видя это, воздал хвалу Богу.

Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through.
Потом Иисус вошел в Иерихон и проходил через него.

A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy.
И вот, некто, именем Закхей, начальник мытарей и человек богатый,

He wanted to see who Jesus was, but being a short man he could not, because of the crowd.
искал видеть Иисуса, кто Он, но не мог за народом, потому что мал был ростом,

So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way.
и, забежав вперед, взлез на смоковницу, чтобы увидеть Его, потому что Ему надлежало проходить мимо нее.

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today."
Иисус, когда пришел на это место, взглянув, увидел его и сказал ему: Закхей! сойди скорее, ибо сегодня надобно Мне быть у тебя в доме.

So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.
И он поспешно сошел и принял Его с радостью.

All the people saw this and began to mutter, "He has gone to be the guest of a 'sinner.' "
И все, видя то, начали роптать, и говорили, что Он зашел к грешному человеку;

But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount."
Закхей же, став, сказал ГОСПОДУ: ГОСПОДИ! половину имения моего я отдам нищим, и, если кого чем обидел, воздам вчетверо.

Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham.
Иисус сказал ему: ныне пришло спасение дому сему, потому что и он сын Авраама,

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost."
ибо Сын Человеческий пришел взыскать и спасти погибшее.

While they were listening to this, he went on to tell them a parable, because he was near Jerusalem and the people thought that the kingdom of God was going to appear at once.
Когда же они слушали это, присовокупил притчу: ибо Он был близ Иерусалима, и они думали, что скоро должно открыться Царствие Божие.

He said: "A man of noble birth went to a distant country to have himself appointed king and then to return.
Итак сказал:||\некоторый человек высокого рода отправлялся в дальнюю страну, чтобы получить себе царство и возвратиться;

So he called ten of his servants and gave them ten minas. 'Put this money to work,' he said, 'until I come back.'
призвав же десять рабов своих, дал им десять мин и сказал им: "употребляйте их в оборот, пока я возвращусь".

"But his subjects hated him and sent a delegation after him to say, 'We don't want this man to be our king.'
Но граждане ненавидели его и отправили вслед за ним посольство, сказав: "не хотим, чтобы он царствовал над нами".

"He was made king, however, and returned home. Then he sent for the servants to whom he had given the money, in order to find out what they had gained with it.
И когда возвратился, получив царство, велел призвать к себе рабов тех, которым дал серебро, чтобы узнать, кто что приобрел.

"The first one came and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned ten more.'
Пришел первый и сказал: "господин! мина твоя принесла десять мин".

" 'Well done, my good servant!' his master replied. 'Because you have been trustworthy in a very small matter, take charge of ten cities.'
И сказал ему: "хорошо, добрый раб! за то, что ты в малом был верен, возьми в управление десять городов".

"The second came and said, 'Sir, your mina has earned five more.'
Пришел второй и сказал: "господин! мина твоя принесла пять мин".

"His master answered, 'You take charge of five cities.'
Сказал и этому: "и ты будь над пятью городами".

"Then another servant came and said, 'Sir, here is your mina; I have kept it laid away in a piece of cloth.
Пришел третий и сказал: "господин! вот твоя мина, которую я хранил, завернув в платок,

I was afraid of you, because you are a hard man. You take out what you did not put in and reap what you did not sow.'
ибо я боялся тебя, потому что ты человек жестокий: берешь, чего не клал, и жнешь, чего не сеял".

"His master replied, 'I will judge you by your own words, you wicked servant! You knew, did you, that I am a hard man, taking out what I did not put in, and reaping what I did not sow?
Господин сказал ему: "твоими устами буду судить тебя, лукавый раб! ты знал, что я человек жестокий, беру, чего не клал, и жну, чего не сеял;

Why then didn't you put my money on deposit, so that when I came back, I could have collected it with interest?'
для чего же ты не отдал серебра моего в оборот, чтобы я, придя, получил его с прибылью?"

"Then he said to those standing by, 'Take his mina away from him and give it to the one who has ten minas.'
И сказал предстоящим: "возьмите у него мину и дайте имеющему десять мин".

" 'Sir,' they said, 'he already has ten!'
И сказали ему: "господин! у него есть десять мин".

"He replied, 'I tell you that to everyone who has, more will be given, but as for the one who has nothing, even what he has will be taken away.
"Сказываю вам, что всякому имеющему дано будет, а у неимеющего отнимется и то, что имеет;

But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them-- bring them here and kill them in front of me.'"
врагов же моих тех, которые не хотели, чтобы я царствовал над ними, приведите сюда и избейте предо мною".

After Jesus had said this, he went on ahead, going up to Jerusalem.
Сказав это, Он пошел далее, восходя в Иерусалим.

As he approached Bethphage and Bethany at the hill called the Mount of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, saying to them,
И когда приблизился к Виффагии и Вифании, к горе, называемой Елеонскою, послал двух учеников Своих,

"Go to the village ahead of you, and as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here.
сказав: пойдите в противолежащее селение; войдя в него, найдете молодого осла привязанного, на которого никто из людей никогда не садился; отвязав его, приведите;

If anyone asks you, 'Why are you untying it?' tell him, 'The Lord needs it.'"
и если кто спросит вас: "зачем отвязываете?", скажите ему так: "он надобен ГОСПОДУ".

Those who were sent ahead went and found it just as he had told them.
Посланные пошли и нашли, как Он сказал им.

As they were untying the colt, its owners asked them, "Why are you untying the colt?"
Когда же они отвязывали молодого осла, хозяева его сказали им: зачем отвязываете осленка?

They replied, "The Lord needs it."
Они отвечали: он надобен ГОСПОДУ.

They brought it to Jesus, threw their cloaks on the colt and put Jesus on it.
И привели его к Иисусу, и, накинув одежды свои на осленка, посадили на него Иисуса.

As he went along, people spread their cloaks on the road.
И, когда Он ехал, постилали одежды свои по дороге.

When he came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:
А когда Он приблизился к спуску с горы Елеонской, все множество учеников начало в радости велегласно славить Бога за все чудеса, какие видели они,

"Blessed is the king who comes in the name of the Lord!" "Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"
говоря: благословен Царь, грядущий во имя ГОСПОДНЕ! Мир на небесах и слава в вышних!

Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, "Teacher, rebuke your disciples!"
И некоторые фарисеи из среды народа сказали Ему: Учитель! запрети ученикам Твоим.

"I tell you," he replied, "if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out."
Но Он сказал им в ответ: сказываю вам, что если они умолкнут, то камни возопиют.

As he approached Jerusalem and saw the city, he wept over it
И когда приблизился к городу, то, смотря на него, заплакал о нем

and said, "If you, even you, had only known on this day what would bring you peace-- but now it is hidden from your eyes.
и сказал: о, если бы и ты хотя в сей твой день узнал, что служит к миру твоему! но это сокрыто ныне от глаз твоих,

The days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment against you and encircle you and hem you in on every side.
ибо придут на тебя дни, когда враги твои обложат тебя окопами и окружат тебя, и стеснят тебя отовсюду,

They will dash you to the ground, you and the children within your walls. They will not leave one stone on another, because you did not recognize the time of God's coming to you."

Then he entered the temple area and began driving out those who were selling.

"It is written," he said to them, " 'My house will be a house of prayer'; but you have made it 'a den of robbers.' "
говоря им: написано: "дом Мой есть дом молитвы", а вы сделали его вертепом разбойников.

Every day he was teaching at the temple. But the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the leaders among the people were trying to kill him.
И учил каждый день в храме. Первосвященники же и книжники и старейшины народа искали погубить Его,

Yet they could not find any way to do it, because all the people hung on his words.
и не находили, что бы сделать с Ним; потому что весь народ неотступно слушал Его.

One day as he was teaching the people in the temple courts and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, together with the elders, came up to him.
В один из тех дней, когда Он учил народ в храме и благовествовал, приступили первосвященники и книжники со старейшинами,

"Tell us by what authority you are doing these things," they said. "Who gave you this authority?"
и сказали Ему: скажи нам, какою властью Ты это делаешь, или кто дал Тебе власть сию?

He replied, "I will also ask you a question. Tell me,
Он сказал им в ответ: спрошу и Я вас об одном, и скажите Мне:

John's baptism-- was it from heaven, or from men?"
крещение Иоанново с небес было, или от человеков?

They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say, 'From heaven,' he will ask, 'Why didn't you believe him?'
Они же, рассуждая между собою, говорили: если скажем: "с небес", то скажет: "почему же вы не поверили ему?"

But if we say, 'From men,' all the people will stone us, because they are persuaded that John was a prophet."
А если скажем: "от человеков", то весь народ побьет нас камнями, ибо он уверен, что Иоанн есть пророк.

So they answered, "We don't know where it was from."
И отвечали: не знаем откуда.

Jesus said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things."
Иисус сказал им: и Я не скажу вам, какою властью это делаю.

He went on to tell the people this parable: "A man planted a vineyard, rented it to some farmers and went away for a long time.
И начал Он говорить к народу притчу сию: один человек насадил виноградник и отдал его виноградарям, и отлучился на долгое время;

At harvest time he sent a servant to the tenants so they would give him some of the fruit of the vineyard. But the tenants beat him and sent him away empty-handed.
и в свое время послал к виноградарям раба, чтобы они дали ему плодов из виноградника; но виноградари, прибив его, отослали ни с чем.

He sent another servant, but that one also they beat and treated shamefully and sent away empty-handed.
Еще послал другого раба; но они и этого, прибив и обругав, отослали ни с чем.

He sent still a third, and they wounded him and threw him out.
И еще послал третьего; но они и того, изранив, выгнали.

"Then the owner of the vineyard said, 'What shall I do? I will send my son, whom I love; perhaps they will respect him.'
Тогда сказал господин виноградника: "что мне делать? Пошлю сына моего возлюбленного; может быть, увидев его, постыдятся".

"But when the tenants saw him, they talked the matter over. 'This is the heir,' they said. 'Let's kill him, and the inheritance will be ours.'
Но виноградари, увидев его, рассуждали между собою, говоря: "это наследник; пойдем, убьем его, и наследство его будет наше".

So they threw him out of the vineyard and killed him. "What then will the owner of the vineyard do to them?
И, выведя его вон из виноградника, убили.Что же сделает с ними господин виноградника?

He will come and kill those tenants and give the vineyard to others." When the people heard this, they said, "May this never be!"
Придет и погубит виноградарей тех, и отдаст виноградник другим. Слышавшие же это сказали: да не будет!

Jesus looked directly at them and asked, "Then what is the meaning of that which is written: " 'The stone the builders rejected has become the capstone '?
Но Он, взглянув на них, сказал: что значит сие написанное: "камень, который отвергли строители, тот самый сделался главою угла"?

Everyone who falls on that stone will be broken to pieces, but he on whom it falls will be crushed."
Всякий, кто упадет на тот камень, разобьется, а на кого он упадет, того раздавит.

The teachers of the law and the chief priests looked for a way to arrest him immediately, because they knew he had spoken this parable against them. But they were afraid of the people.
И искали в это время первосвященники и книжники, чтобы наложить на Него руки, но побоялись народа, ибо поняли, что о них сказал Он эту притчу.

Keeping a close watch on him, they sent spies, who pretended to be honest. They hoped to catch Jesus in something he said so that they might hand him over to the power and authority of the governor.
И, наблюдая за Ним, подослали лукавых людей, которые, притворившись благочестивыми, уловили бы Его в каком-либо слове, чтобы предать Его начальству и власти правителя.

So the spies questioned him: "Teacher, we know that you speak and teach what is right, and that you do not show partiality but teach the way of God in accordance with the truth.
И они спросили Его: Учитель! мы знаем, что Ты правдиво говоришь и учишь и не смотришь на лицо, но истинно пути Божию учишь;

Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?"
позволительно ли нам давать подать кесарю, или нет?

He saw through their duplicity and said to them,
Он же, уразумев лукавство их, сказал им: что вы Меня искушаете?

"Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?"
Покажите Мне динарий: чье на нем изображение и надпись?Они отвечали: кесаревы.

"Caesar's," they replied. He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's."
Он сказал им: итак, отдавайте кесарево кесарю, а Божие Богу.

They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent.
И не могли уловить Его в слове перед народом, и, удивившись ответу Его, замолчали.

Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question.
Тогда пришли некоторые из саддукеев, отвергающих воскресение, и спросили Его:

"Teacher," they said, "Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother.
Учитель! Моисей написал нам, что если у кого умрет брат, имевший жену, и умрет бездетным, то брат его должен взять его жену и восставить семя брату своему.

Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless.
Было семь братьев, первый, взяв жену, умер бездетным;

And the second took her to wife, and he died childless.

and then the third married her, and in the same way the seven died, leaving no children.
взял ее третий; также и все семеро, и умерли, не оставив детей;

Finally, the woman died too.
после всех умерла и жена;

Now then, at the resurrection whose wife will she be, since the seven were married to her?"
итак, в воскресение которого из них будет она женою, ибо семеро имели ее женою?

Jesus replied, "The people of this age marry and are given in marriage.
Иисус сказал им в ответ: чада века сего женятся и выходят замуж;

But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage,
а сподобившиеся достигнуть того века и воскресения из мертвых ни женятся, ни замуж не выходят,

and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection.
и умереть уже не могут, ибо они равны Ангелам и суть сыны Божии, будучи сынами воскресения.

But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.'
А что мертвые воскреснут, и Моисей показал при купине, когда назвал ГОСПОДА Богом Авраама и Богом Исаака и Богом Иакова.

He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive."

Some of the teachers of the law responded, "Well said, teacher!"

And no one dared to ask him any more questions.
И уже не смели спрашивать Его ни о чем.Он же сказал им:

Then Jesus said to them, "How is it that they say the Christ is the Son of David?
как говорят, что Христос есть Сын Давидов,

David himself declares in the Book of Psalms: " 'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand
а сам Давид говорит в книге псалмов: "сказал ГОСПОДЬ ГОСПОДУ моему: седи одесную Меня,

until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." '
доколе положу врагов Твоих в подножие ног Твоих"?

David calls him 'Lord.' How then can he be his son?"
Итак, Давид ГОСПОДОМ называет Его; как же Он Сын ему?

While all the people were listening, Jesus said to his disciples,
И когда слушал весь народ, Он сказал ученикам Своим:

"Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets.
остерегайтесь книжников, которые любят ходить в длинных одеждах и любят приветствия в народных собраниях, председания в синагогах и предвозлежания на пиршествах,

They devour widows' houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. Such men will be punished most severely."
которые поядают домы вдов и лицемерно долго молятся; они примут тем большее осуждение.

As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury.
Взглянув же, Он увидел богатых, клавших дары свои в сокровищницу;

He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.
увидел также и бедную вдову, положившую туда две лепты,

"I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others.
и сказал: истинно говорю вам, что эта бедная вдова больше всех положила;

All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."
ибо все те от избытка своего положили в дар Богу, а она от скудости своей положила все пропитание свое, какое имела.

Some of his disciples were remarking about how the temple was adorned with beautiful stones and with gifts dedicated to God. But Jesus said,
И когда некоторые говорили о храме, что он украшен дорогими камнями и вкладами, Он сказал:

"As for what you see here, the time will come when not one stone will be left on another; every one of them will be thrown down."
придут дни, в которые из того, что вы здесь видите, не останется камня на камне; все будет разрушено.

"Teacher," they asked, "when will these things happen? And what will be the sign that they are about to take place?"
И спросили Его: Учитель! когда же это будет? и какой признак, когда это должно произойти?

He replied: "Watch out that you are not deceived. For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am he,' and, 'The time is near.' Do not follow them.
Он сказал: берегитесь, чтобы вас не ввели в заблуждение, ибо многие придут под именем Моим, говоря, что это Я; и это время близко: не ходите вслед их.

When you hear of wars and revolutions, do not be frightened. These things must happen first, but the end will not come right away."
Когда же услышите о войнах и смятениях, не ужасайтесь, ибо этому надлежит быть прежде; но не тотчас конец.

Then he said to them: "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom.
Тогда сказал им: восстанет народ на народ, и царство на царство;

There will be great earthquakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.
будут большие землетрясения по местам, и глады, и моры, и ужасные явления, и великие знамения с неба.

"But before all this, they will lay hands on you and persecute you. They will deliver you to synagogues and prisons, and you will be brought before kings and governors, and all on account of my name.
Прежде же всего того возложат на вас руки и будут гнать вас, предавая в синагоги и в темницы, и поведут пред царей и правителей за имя Мое;

This will result in your being witnesses to them.
будет же это вам для свидетельства.

But make up your mind not to worry beforehand how you will defend yourselves.
Итак, положите себе на сердце не обдумывать заранее, что отвечать,

For I will give you words and wisdom that none of your adversaries will be able to resist or contradict.
ибо Я дам вам уста и премудрость, которой не возмогут противоречить, ни противостоять все, противящиеся вам.

You will be betrayed even by parents, brothers, relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death.
Преданы также будете и родителями, и братьями, и родственниками, и друзьями, и некоторых из вас умертвят;

All men will hate you because of me.
и будете ненавидимы всеми за имя Мое,

But not a hair of your head will perish.
но и волос с головы вашей не пропадет,—

By standing firm you will gain life.
терпением вашим спасайте души ваши.

"When you see Jerusalem being surrounded by armies, you will know that its desolation is near.
Когда же увидите Иерусалим, окруженный войсками, тогда знайте, что приблизилось запустение его:

Then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains, let those in the city get out, and let those in the country not enter the city.
тогда находящиеся в Иудее да бегут в горы; и кто в городе, выходи из него; и кто в окрестностях, не входи в него,

For this is the time of punishment in fulfillment of all that has been written.
потому что это дни отмщения, да исполнится все написанное.

How dreadful it will be in those days for pregnant women and nursing mothers! There will be great distress in the land and wrath against this people.
Горе же беременным и питающим сосцами в те дни; ибо великое будет бедствие на земле и гнев на народ сей:

They will fall by the sword and will be taken as prisoners to all the nations. Jerusalem will be trampled on by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles are fulfilled.
и падут от острия меча, и отведутся в плен во все народы; и Иерусалим будет попираем язычниками, доколе не окончатся времена язычников.

"There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.
И будут знамения в солнце и луне и звездах, а на земле уныние народов и недоумение; и море восшумит и возмутится;

Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.
люди будут издыхать от страха и ожидания бедствий, грядущих на вселенную, ибо силы небесные поколеблются,

At that time they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.
и тогда увидят Сына Человеческого, грядущего на облаке с силою и славою великою.

When these things begin to take place, stand up and lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near."
Когда же начнет это сбываться, тогда восклонитесь и поднимите головы ваши, потому что приближается избавление ваше.

He told them this parable: "Look at the fig tree and all the trees.
И сказал им притчу: посмотрите на смоковницу и на все деревья:

When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near.
когда они уже распускаются, то, видя это, знаете сами, что уже близко лето.

Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
Так, и когда вы увидите то сбывающимся, знайте, что близко Царствие Божие.

"I tell you the truth, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened.
Истинно говорю вам: не прейдет род сей, как все это будет;

Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
небо и земля прейдут, но слова Мои не прейдут.

"Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with dissipation, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you unexpectedly like a trap.
Смотрите же за собою, чтобы сердца ваши не отягчались объядением и пьянством и заботами житейскими, и чтобы день тот не постиг вас внезапно,

For it will come upon all those who live on the face of the whole earth.
ибо он, как сеть, найдет на всех живущих по всему лицу земному;

Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man."
итак, бодрствуйте на всякое время и молитесь, да сподобитесь избежать всех сих будущих бедствий и предстать пред Сына Человеческого.

Each day Jesus was teaching at the temple, and each evening he went out to spend the night on the hill called the Mount of Olives,
Днем Он учил в храме, а ночи, выходя, проводил на горе, называемой Елеонскою.

and all the people came early in the morning to hear him at the temple.
И весь народ с утра приходил к Нему в храм слушать Его.

Now the Feast of Unleavened Bread, called the Passover, was approaching,

and the chief priests and the teachers of the law were looking for some way to get rid of Jesus, for they were afraid of the people.
и искали первосвященники и книжники, как бы погубить Его, потому что боялись народа.

Then Satan entered Judas, called Iscariot, one of the Twelve.
Вошел же сатана в Иуду, прозванного Искариотом, одного из числа Двенадцати,

And Judas went to the chief priests and the officers of the temple guard and discussed with them how he might betray Jesus.
и он пошел, и говорил с первосвященниками и начальниками, как Его предать им.

They were delighted and agreed to give him money.
Они обрадовались и согласились дать ему денег;

He consented, and watched for an opportunity to hand Jesus over to them when no crowd was present.
и он обещал, и искал удобного времени, чтобы предать Его им не при народе.

Then came the day of Unleavened Bread on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed.
Настал же день опресноков, в который надлежало закалать пасхального агнца,

Jesus sent Peter and John, saying, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover."
и послал Иисус Петра и Иоанна, сказав: пойдите, приготовьте нам есть пасху.

"Where do you want us to prepare for it?" they asked.
Они же сказали Ему: где велишь нам приготовить?

He replied, "As you enter the city, a man carrying a jar of water will meet you. Follow him to the house that he enters,
Он сказал им: вот, при входе вашем в город, встретится с вами человек, несущий кувшин воды; последуйте за ним в дом, в который войдет он,

and say to the owner of the house, 'The Teacher asks: Where is the guest room, where I may eat the Passover with my disciples?'
и скажите хозяину дома: "Учитель говорит тебе: где комната, в которой бы Мне есть пасху с учениками Моими?"

He will show you a large upper room, all furnished. Make preparations there."
И он покажет вам горницу большую устланную; там приготовьте.

They left and found things just as Jesus had told them. So they prepared the Passover.
Они пошли, и нашли, как сказал им, и приготовили пасху.

When the hour came, Jesus and his apostles reclined at the table.
И, когда настал час, Он возлег, и двенадцать Апостолов с Ним,

And he said to them, "I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.
и сказал им: очень желал Я есть с вами сию пасху прежде Моего страдания,

For I tell you, I will not eat it again until it finds fulfillment in the kingdom of God."
ибо сказываю вам, что уже не буду есть ее, пока она не совершится в Царствии Божием.

After taking the cup, he gave thanks and said, "Take this and divide it among you.
И, взяв чашу и благодарив, сказал: приимите ее и разделите между собою,

For I tell you I will not drink again of the fruit of the vine until the kingdom of God comes."
ибо сказываю вам, что не буду пить от плода виноградного, доколе не придет Царствие Божие.

And he took bread, gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to them, saying, "This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me."
И, взяв хлеб и благодарив, преломил и подал им, говоря: сие есть Тело Мое, которое за вас предается; сие творите в Мое воспоминание.

In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in my blood, which is poured out for you.
Также и чашу после вечери, говоря: сия чаша есть новый завет в Моей Крови, которая за вас проливается.

But the hand of him who is going to betray me is with mine on the table.
И вот, рука предающего Меня со Мною за столом;

The Son of Man will go as it has been decreed, but woe to that man who betrays him."
впрочем, Сын Человеческий идет по предназначению, но горе тому человеку, которым Он предается.

They began to question among themselves which of them it might be who would do this.
И они начали спрашивать друг друга, кто бы из них был, который это сделает.

Also a dispute arose among them as to which of them was considered to be greatest.
Был же и спор между ними, кто из них должен почитаться большим.

Jesus said to them, "The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them; and those who exercise authority over them call themselves Benefactors.
Он же сказал им: цари господствуют над народами, и владеющие ими благодетелями называются,

But you are not to be like that. Instead, the greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the one who rules like the one who serves.
а вы не так: но кто из вас больше, будь как меньший, и начальствующий— как служащий.

For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.
Ибо кто больше: возлежащий или служащий? не возлежащий ли? А Я посреди вас, как служащий.

You are those who have stood by me in my trials.
Но вы пребыли со Мною в напастях Моих,

And I confer on you a kingdom, just as my Father conferred one on me,
и Я завещаваю вам, как завещал Мне Отец Мой, Царство,

so that you may eat and drink at my table in my kingdom and sit on thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
да ядите и пиете за трапезою Моею в Царстве Моем, и сядете на престолах судить двенадцать колен Израилевых.

"Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift you as wheat.
И сказал ГОСПОДЬ: Симон! Симон! се, сатана просил, чтобы сеять вас как пшеницу,

But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers."
но Я молился о тебе, чтобы не оскудела вера твоя; и ты некогда, обратившись, утверди братьев твоих.

But he replied, "Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death."
Он отвечал Ему: ГОСПОДИ! с Тобою я готов и в темницу и на смерть идти.

Jesus answered, "I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me."
Но Он сказал: говорю тебе, Петр, не пропоет петух сегодня, как ты трижды отречешься, что не знаешь Меня.

Then Jesus asked them, "When I sent you without purse, bag or sandals, did you lack anything?" "Nothing," they answered.
И сказал им: когда Я посылал вас без мешка и без сумы и без обуви, имели ли вы в чем недостаток?Они отвечали: ни в чем.

He said to them, "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.
Тогда Он сказал им: но теперь, кто имеет мешок, тот возьми его, также и суму; а у кого нет, продай одежду свою и купи меч;

It is written: 'And he was numbered with the transgressors'; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfillment."
ибо сказываю вам, что должно исполниться на Мне и сему написанному: "и к злодеям причтен". Ибо то, что о Мне, приходит к концу.

The disciples said, "See, Lord, here are two swords." "That is enough," he replied.
Они сказали: ГОСПОДИ! вот, здесь два меча.Он сказал им: довольно.

Jesus went out as usual to the Mount of Olives, and his disciples followed him.
И, выйдя, пошел по обыкновению на гору Елеонскую, за Ним последовали и ученики Его.

On reaching the place, he said to them, "Pray that you will not fall into temptation."
Придя же на место, сказал им: молитесь, чтобы не впасть в искушение.

He withdrew about a stone's throw beyond them, knelt down and prayed,
И Сам отошел от них на вержение камня, и, преклонив колени, молился,

"Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done."
говоря: Отче! о, если бы Ты благоволил пронести чашу сию мимо Меня! впрочем, не Моя воля, но Твоя да будет.

An angel from heaven appeared to him and strengthened him.
Явился же Ему Ангел с небес и укреплял Его.

And being in anguish, he prayed more earnestly, and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground.
И, находясь в борении, прилежнее молился, и был пот Его, как капли крови, падающие на землю.

When he rose from prayer and went back to the disciples, he found them asleep, exhausted from sorrow.
Встав от молитвы, Он пришел к ученикам, и нашел их спящими от печали,

"Why are you sleeping?" he asked them. "Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation."
и сказал им: что вы спите? встаньте и молитесь, чтобы не впасть в искушение.

While he was still speaking a crowd came up, and the man who was called Judas, one of the Twelve, was leading them. He approached Jesus to kiss him,
Когда Он еще говорил это, появился народ, а впереди его шел один из Двенадцати, называемый Иуда, и он подошел к Иисусу, чтобы поцеловать Его. Ибо он такой им дал знак: Кого я поцелую, Тот и есть.

but Jesus asked him, "Judas, are you betraying the Son of Man with a kiss?"
Иисус же сказал ему: Иуда! целованием ли предаешь Сына Человеческого?

When Jesus' followers saw what was going to happen, they said, "Lord, should we strike with our swords?"
Бывшие же с Ним, видя, к чему идет дело, сказали Ему: ГОСПОДИ! не ударить ли нам мечом?

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.
И один из них ударил раба первосвященникова, и отсек ему правое ухо.

But Jesus answered, "No more of this!" And he touched the man's ear and healed him.

Then Jesus said to the chief priests, the officers of the temple guard, and the elders, who had come for him, "Am I leading a rebellion, that you have come with swords and clubs?
Первосвященникам же и начальникам храма и старейшинам, собравшимся против Него, сказал Иисус: как будто на разбойника вышли вы с мечами и кольями, чтобы взять Меня.

Every day I was with you in the temple courts, and you did not lay a hand on me. But this is your hour-- when darkness reigns."
Каждый день бывал Я с вами в храме, и вы не поднимали на Меня рук, но теперь ваше время и власть тьмы.

Then seizing him, they led him away and took him into the house of the high priest. Peter followed at a distance.
Взяв Его, повели и привели в дом первосвященника. Петр же следовал издали.

But when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had sat down together, Peter sat down with them.
Когда они развели огонь среди двора и сели вместе, сел и Петр между ними.

A servant girl saw him seated there in the firelight. She looked closely at him and said, "This man was with him."
Одна служанка, увидев его сидящего у огня и всмотревшись в него, сказала: и этот был с Ним.

But he denied it. "Woman, I don't know him," he said.
Но он отрекся от Него, сказав женщине: я не знаю Его.

A little later someone else saw him and said, "You also are one of them." "Man, I am not!" Peter replied.
Вскоре потом другой, увидев его, сказал: и ты из них.Но Петр сказал этому человеку: нет!

About an hour later another asserted, "Certainly this fellow was with him, for he is a Galilean."
Прошло с час времени, еще некто настоятельно говорил: точно и этот был с Ним, ибо он Галилеянин.

Peter replied, "Man, I don't know what you're talking about!" Just as he was speaking, the rooster crowed.
Но Петр сказал тому человеку: не знаю, что ты говоришь.И тотчас, когда еще говорил он, запел петух.

The Lord turned and looked straight at Peter. Then Peter remembered the word the Lord had spoken to him: "Before the rooster crows today, you will disown me three times."
Тогда ГОСПОДЬ, обратившись, взглянул на Петра, и Петр вспомнил слово ГОСПОДА, как Он сказал ему: "прежде нежели пропоет петух, отречешься от Меня трижды".

And he went outside and wept bitterly.
И, выйдя вон, горько заплакал.

The men who were guarding Jesus began mocking and beating him.
Люди, державшие Иисуса, ругались над Ним и били Его;

They blindfolded him and demanded, "Prophesy! Who hit you?"
и, закрыв Его, ударяли Его по лицу и спрашивали Его: прореки, кто ударил Тебя?

And they said many other insulting things to him.
И много иных хулений произносили против Него.

At daybreak the council of the elders of the people, both the chief priests and teachers of the law, met together, and Jesus was led before them.
И как настал день, собрались старейшины народа, первосвященники и книжники, и ввели Его в свой синедрион,

"If you are the Christ, " they said, "tell us." Jesus answered, "If I tell you, you will not believe me,
и сказали: Ты ли Христос? скажи нам.Он сказал им: если скажу вам, вы не поверите;

and if I asked you, you would not answer.
если же и спрошу вас, не будете отвечать Мне и не отпустите Меня;

But from now on, the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God."
отныне Сын Человеческий воссядет одесную силы Божией.

They all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" He replied, "You are right in saying I am."
И сказали все: итак, Ты Сын Божий?Он отвечал им: вы говорите, что Я.

Then they said, "Why do we need any more testimony? We have heard it from his own lips."
Они же сказали: какое еще нужно нам свидетельство? ибо мы сами слышали из уст Его.

Then the whole assembly rose and led him off to Pilate.
И поднялось все множество их, и повели Его к Пилату,

And they began to accuse him, saying, "We have found this man subverting our nation. He opposes payment of taxes to Caesar and claims to be Christ, a king."
и начали обвинять Его, говоря: мы нашли, что Он развращает народ наш и запрещает давать подать кесарю, называя Себя Христом Царем.

So Pilate asked Jesus, "Are you the king of the Jews?" "Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.
Пилат спросил Его: Ты Царь Иудейский?Он сказал ему в ответ: ты говоришь.

Then Pilate announced to the chief priests and the crowd, "I find no basis for a charge against this man."
Пилат сказал первосвященникам и народу: я не нахожу никакой вины в этом человеке.

But they insisted, "He stirs up the people all over Judea by his teaching. He started in Galilee and has come all the way here."
Но они настаивали, говоря, что Он возмущает народ, уча по всей Иудее, начиная от Галилеи до сего места.

On hearing this, Pilate asked if the man was a Galilean.
Пилат, услышав о Галилее, спросил: разве Он Галилеянин?

When he learned that Jesus was under Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who was also in Jerusalem at that time.
И, узнав, что Он из области Иродовой, послал Его к Ироду, который в эти дни был также в Иерусалиме.

When Herod saw Jesus, he was greatly pleased, because for a long time he had been wanting to see him. From what he had heard about him, he hoped to see him perform some miracle.
Ирод, увидев Иисуса, очень обрадовался, ибо давно желал видеть Его, потому что много слышал о Нем, и надеялся увидеть от Него какое-нибудь чудо,

He plied him with many questions, but Jesus gave him no answer.
и предлагал Ему многие вопросы, но Он ничего не отвечал ему.

The chief priests and the teachers of the law were standing there, vehemently accusing him.
Первосвященники же и книжники стояли и усильно обвиняли Его.

Then Herod and his soldiers ridiculed and mocked him. Dressing him in an elegant robe, they sent him back to Pilate.
Но Ирод со своими воинами, уничижив Его и насмеявшись над Ним, одел Его в светлую одежду и отослал обратно к Пилату.

That day Herod and Pilate became friends-- before this they had been enemies.
И сделались в тот день Пилат и Ирод друзьями между собою, ибо прежде были во вражде друг с другом.

Pilate called together the chief priests, the rulers and the people,
Пилат же, созвав первосвященников и начальников и народ,

and said to them, "You brought me this man as one who was inciting the people to rebellion. I have examined him in your presence and have found no basis for your charges against him.
сказал им: вы привели ко мне человека сего, как развращающего народ; и вот, я при вас исследовал и не нашел человека сего виновным ни в чем том, в чем вы обвиняете Его;

Neither has Herod, for he sent him back to us; as you can see, he has done nothing to deserve death.
и Ирод также, ибо я посылал Его к нему; и ничего не найдено в Нем, достойного смерти;

Therefore, I will punish him and then release him. "
итак, наказав Его, отпущу.

(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
А ему и нужно было для праздника отпустить им одного узника.

With one voice they cried out, "Away with this man! Release Barabbas to us!"
Но весь народ стал кричать: смерть Ему! а отпусти нам Варавву.

(Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)
Варавва был посажен в темницу за произведенное в городе возмущение и убийство.

Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again.
Пилат снова возвысил голос, желая отпустить Иисуса.

But they kept shouting, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"
Но они кричали: распни, распни Его!

For the third time he spoke to them: "Why? What crime has this man committed? I have found in him no grounds for the death penalty. Therefore I will have him punished and then release him."
Он в третий раз сказал им: какое же зло сделал Он? я ничего, достойного смерти, не нашел в Нем; итак, наказав Его, отпущу.

But with loud shouts they insistently demanded that he be crucified, and their shouts prevailed.
Но они продолжали с великим криком требовать, чтобы Он был распят; и превозмог крик их и первосвященников.

So Pilate decided to grant their demand.
И Пилат решил быть по прошению их,

He released the man who had been thrown into prison for insurrection and murder, the one they asked for, and surrendered Jesus to their will.
и отпустил им посаженного за возмущение и убийство в темницу, которого они просили; а Иисуса предал в их волю.

As they led him away, they seized Simon from Cyrene, who was on his way in from the country, and put the cross on him and made him carry it behind Jesus.
И когда повели Его, то, захватив некоего Симона Киринеянина, шедшего с поля, возложили на него крест, чтобы нес за Иисусом.но плачьте о себе и о детях ваших"

A large number of people followed him, including women who mourned and wailed for him.
И шло за Ним великое множество народа и женщин, которые плакали и рыдали о Нем.

Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me; weep for yourselves and for your children.
Иисус же, обратившись к ним, сказал: дщери Иерусалимские! не плачьте обо Мне, но плачьте о себе и о детях ваших,

For the time will come when you will say, 'Blessed are the barren women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed!'
ибо приходят дни, в которые скажут: "блаженны неплодные, и утробы неродившие, и сосцы непитавшие!"

Then " 'they will say to the mountains, "Fall on us!" and to the hills, "Cover us!" '
Тогда начнут говорить горам: "падите на нас!", и холмам: "покройте нас!"

For if men do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?"
Ибо если с зеленеющим деревом это делают, то с сухим что будет?

Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed.
Вели с Ним на смерть и двух злодеев.

When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals-- one on his right, the other on his left.
И когда пришли на место, называемое Лобное, там распяли Его и злодеев, одного по правую, а другого по левую сторону.

Jesus said, "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing." And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.
Иисус же говорил: Отче! прости им, ибо не знают, что делают.И делили одежды Его, бросая жребий.

The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him. They said, "He saved others; let him save himself if he is the Christ of God, the Chosen One."
И стоял народ, и смотрел. Насмехались же вместе с ними и начальники, говоря: других спасал; пусть спасет Себя Самого, если Он Христос, избранный Божий.

The soldiers also came up and mocked him. They offered him wine vinegar
Также и воины ругались над Ним, подходя и поднося Ему уксус

and said, "If you are the king of the Jews, save yourself."
и говоря: если Ты Царь Иудейский, спаси Себя Самого.

There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
И была над Ним надпись, написанная словами греческими, римскими и еврейскими: "Сей есть Царь Иудейский".

One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: "Aren't you the Christ? Save yourself and us!"
Один из повешенных злодеев злословил Его и говорил: если Ты Христос, спаси Себя и нас.

But the other criminal rebuked him. "Don't you fear God," he said, "since you are under the same sentence?
Другой же, напротив, унимал его и говорил: или ты не боишься Бога, когда и сам осужден на то же?

We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong."
И мы осуждены справедливо, потому что достойное по делам нашим приняли, а Он ничего худого не сделал.

Then he said, "Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. "
И сказал Иисусу: помяни меня, ГОСПОДИ, когда приидешь в Царствие Твое!

Jesus answered him, "I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise."
И сказал ему Иисус: истинно говорю тебе, ныне же будешь со Мною в раю.

It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour,
Было же около шестого часа дня, и сделалась тьма по всей земле до часа девятого:

for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.
и померкло солнце, и завеса в храме раздралась по средине.

Jesus called out with a loud voice, "Father, into your hands I commit my spirit." When he had said this, he breathed his last.
Иисус, возгласив громким голосом, сказал: Отче! в руки Твои предаю дух Мой. И, сие сказав, испустил дух.

The centurion, seeing what had happened, praised God and said, "Surely this was a righteous man."
Сотник же, видев происходившее, прославил Бога и сказал: истинно человек этот был праведник.

When all the people who had gathered to witness this sight saw what took place, they beat their breasts and went away.
И весь народ, сшедшийся на сие зрелище, видя происходившее, возвращался, бия себя в грудь.

But all those who knew him, including the women who had followed him from Galilee, stood at a distance, watching these things.
Все же, знавшие Его, и женщины, следовавшие за Ним из Галилеи, стояли вдали и смотрели на это.

Now there was a man named Joseph, a member of the Council, a good and upright man,
Тогда некто, именем Иосиф, член совета, человек добрый и правдивый,

who had not consented to their decision and action. He came from the Judean town of Arimathea and he was waiting for the kingdom of God.
не участвовавший в совете и в деле их, из Аримафеи, города Иудейского, ожидавший также Царствия Божия,

Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body.
пришел к Пилату и просил тела Иисусова;

Then he took it down, wrapped it in linen cloth and placed it in a tomb cut in the rock, one in which no one had yet been laid.
и, сняв его, обвил плащаницею и положил его в гробе, высеченном в скале, где еще никто не был положен.

It was Preparation Day, and the Sabbath was about to begin.
День тот был пятница, и наступала суббота.

The women who had come with Jesus from Galilee followed Joseph and saw the tomb and how his body was laid in it.
Последовали также и женщины, пришедшие с Иисусом из Галилеи, и смотрели гроб и как полагалось тело Его;

Then they went home and prepared spices and perfumes. But they rested on the Sabbath in obedience to the commandment.
возвратившись же, приготовили благовония и масти; и в субботу остались в покое по заповеди.

On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb.
В первый же день недели, очень рано, неся приготовленные ароматы, пришли они ко гробу, и вместе с ними некоторые другие;

They found the stone rolled away from the tomb,
но нашли камень отваленным от гроба.

but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.
И, войдя, не нашли тела ГОСПОДА Иисуса.

While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them.
Когда же недоумевали они о сем, вдруг предстали перед ними два мужа в одеждах блистающих.

In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, "Why do you look for the living among the dead?
И когда они были в страхе и наклонили лица свои к земле, сказали им: что вы ищете живого между мертвыми?

He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee:
Его нет здесь: Он воскрес; вспомните, как Он говорил вам, когда был еще в Галилее,

'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, be crucified and on the third day be raised again.' "
сказывая, что Сыну Человеческому надлежит быть предану в руки человеков грешников, и быть распяту, и в третий день воскреснуть.

Then they remembered his words.
И вспомнили они слова Его;

When they came back from the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and to all the others.
и, возвратившись от гроба, возвестили все это одиннадцати и всем прочим.

It was Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James, and the others with them who told this to the apostles.
То были Магдалина Мария, и Иоанна, и Мария, мать Иакова, и другие с ними, которые сказали о сем Апостолам.

But they did not believe the women, because their words seemed to them like nonsense.
И показались им слова их пустыми, и не поверили им.

Peter, however, got up and ran to the tomb. Bending over, he saw the strips of linen lying by themselves, and he went away, wondering to himself what had happened.
Но Петр, встав, побежал ко гробу и, наклонившись, увидел только пелены лежащие, и пошел назад, дивясь сам в себе происшедшему.

Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem.
В тот же день двое из них шли в селение, отстоящее стадий на шестьдесят от Иерусалима, называемое Эммаус;

They were talking with each other about everything that had happened.
и разговаривали между собою о всех сих событиях.

As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them;
И когда они разговаривали и рассуждали между собою, и Сам Иисус, приблизившись, пошел с ними.

but they were kept from recognizing him.
Но глаза их были удержаны, так что они не узнали Его.

He asked them, "What are you discussing together as you walk along?" They stood still, their faces downcast.
Он же сказал им: о чем это вы, идя, рассуждаете между собою, и отчего вы печальны?

One of them, named Cleopas, asked him, "Are you only a visitor to Jerusalem and do not know the things that have happened there in these days?"
Один из них, именем Клеопа, сказал Ему в ответ: неужели Ты один из пришедших в Иерусалим не знаешь о происшедшем в нем в эти дни?

"What things?" he asked. "About Jesus of Nazareth," they replied. "He was a prophet, powerful in word and deed before God and all the people.
И сказал им: о чем?Они сказали Ему: что было с Иисусом Назарянином, Который был пророк, сильный в деле и слове пред Богом и всем народом;

The chief priests and our rulers handed him over to be sentenced to death, and they crucified him;
как предали Его первосвященники и начальники наши для осуждения на смерть и распяли Его.

but we had hoped that he was the one who was going to redeem Israel. And what is more, it is the third day since all this took place.
А мы надеялись было, что Он есть Тот, Который должен избавить Израиля; но со всем тем, уже третий день ныне, как это произошло.

In addition, some of our women amazed us. They went to the tomb early this morning
Но и некоторые женщины из наших изумили нас: они были рано у гроба

but didn't find his body. They came and told us that they had seen a vision of angels, who said he was alive.
и не нашли тела Его и, придя, сказывали, что они видели и явление Ангелов, которые говорят, что Он жив.

Then some of our companions went to the tomb and found it just as the women had said, but him they did not see."
И пошли некоторые из наших ко гробу и нашли так, как и женщины говорили, но Его не видели.

He said to them, "How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!
Тогда Он сказал им: о, несмысленные и медлительные сердцем, чтобы веровать всему, что предсказывали пророки!

Did not the Christ have to suffer these things and then enter his glory?"
Не так ли надлежало пострадать Христу и войти в славу Свою?

And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he explained to them what was said in all the Scriptures concerning himself.
И, начав от Моисея, из всех пророков изъяснял им сказанное о Нем во всем Писании.

As they approached the village to which they were going, Jesus acted as if he were going farther.
И приблизились они к тому селению, в которое шли; и Он показывал им вид, что хочет идти далее.

But they urged him strongly, "Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over." So he went in to stay with them.
Но они удерживали Его, говоря: останься с нами, потому что день уже склонился к вечеру. И Он вошел и остался с ними.

When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them.
И когда Он возлежал с ними, то, взяв хлеб, благословил, преломил и подал им.

Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight.
Тогда открылись у них глаза, и они узнали Его. Но Он стал невидим для них.

They asked each other, "Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?"
И они сказали друг другу: не горело ли в нас сердце наше, когда Он говорил нам на дороге и когда изъяснял нам Писание?

They got up and returned at once to Jerusalem. There they found the Eleven and those with them, assembled together
И, встав в тот же час, возвратились в Иерусалим и нашли вместе одиннадцать Апостолов и бывших с ними,

and saying, "It is true! The Lord has risen and has appeared to Simon."
которые говорили, что ГОСПОДЬ истинно воскрес и явился Симону.

Then the two told what had happened on the way, and how Jesus was recognized by them when he broke the bread.
И они рассказывали о происшедшем на пути, и как Он был узнан ими в преломлении хлеба.

While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you."
Когда они говорили о сем, Сам Иисус стал посреди них и сказал им: мир вам.

They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost.
Они, смутившись и испугавшись, подумали, что видят духа.

He said to them, "Why are you troubled, and why do doubts rise in your minds?
Но Он сказал им: что смущаетесь, и для чего такие мысли входят в сердца ваши?

Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have."
Посмотрите на руки Мои и на ноги Мои; это Я Сам; осяжите Меня и рассмотрите; ибо дух плоти и костей не имеет, как видите у Меня.

When he had said this, he showed them his hands and feet.
И, сказав это, показал им руки и ноги.

And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, "Do you have anything here to eat?"
Когда же они от радости еще не верили и дивились, Он сказал им: есть ли у вас здесь какая пища?

They gave him a piece of broiled fish,
Они подали Ему часть печеной рыбы и сотового меда.

and he took it and ate it in their presence.
И, взяв, ел пред ними.

He said to them, "This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms."
И сказал им: вот то, о чем Я вам говорил, еще быв с вами, что надлежит исполниться всему, написанному о Мне в законе Моисеевом и в пророках и псалмах.

Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.
Тогда отверз им ум к уразумению Писаний.

He told them, "This is what is written: The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day,
И сказал им: так написано, и так надлежало пострадать Христу, и воскреснуть из мертвых в третий день,

and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
и проповедану быть во имя Его покаянию и прощению грехов во всех народах, начиная с Иерусалима.

You are witnesses of these things.
Вы же свидетели сему.

I am going to send you what my Father has promised; but stay in the city until you have been clothed with power from on high."
И Я пошлю обетование Отца Моего на вас; вы же оставайтесь в городе Иерусалиме, доколе не облечетесь силою свыше.

When he had led them out to the vicinity of Bethany, he lifted up his hands and blessed them.
И вывел их вон из города до Вифании и, подняв руки Свои, благословил их.

While he was blessing them, he left them and was taken up into heaven.
И, когда благословлял их, стал отдаляться от них и возноситься на небо.

Then they worshiped him and returned to Jerusalem with great joy.
Они поклонились Ему и возвратились в Иерусалим с великою радостью.

And they stayed continually at the temple, praising God.
И пребывали всегда в храме, прославляя и благословляя Бога.Аминь.

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was with God in the beginning.

In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.

There came a man who was sent from God; his name was John.
Был человек, посланный от Бога; имя ему Иоанн.

He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe.
Он пришел для свидетельства, чтобы свидетельствовать о Свете, дабы все уверовали чрез него.

He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.
Он не был свет, но был послан, чтобы свидетельствовать о Свете.

The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
Был Свет истинный, Который просвещает всякого человека, приходящего в мир.

He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
В мире был, и мир чрез Него начал быть, и мир Его не познал.

He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
Пришел к своим, и свои Его не приняли.

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God--
А тем, которые приняли Его, верующим во имя Его, дал власть быть чадами Божиими,

children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God.
которые ни от крови, ни от хотения плоти, ни от хотения мужа, но от Бога родились.

The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.
И Слово стало плотию и обитало с нами, полное благодати и истины; и мы видели славу Его, славу, как Единородного от Отца.

John testifies concerning him. He cries out, saying, "This was he of whom I said, 'He who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.' "

Now this was John's testimony when the Jews of Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was.

He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, "I am not the Christ. "

They asked him, "Then who are you? Are you Elijah?" He said, "I am not." "Are you the Prophet?" He answered, "No."

Finally they said, "Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?"
Сказали ему: кто же ты? чтобы нам дать ответ пославшим нас: что ты скажешь о себе самом?

John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, "I am the voice of one calling in the desert, 'Make straight the way for the Lord.' "
Он сказал: я глас вопиющего в пустыне: "исправьте путь ГОСПОДУ", как сказал пророк Исаия.

Now some Pharisees who had been sent
А посланные были из фарисеев;

questioned him, "Why then do you baptize if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?"

"I baptize with water," John replied, "but among you stands one you do not know.
Иоанн сказал им в ответ: я крещу в воде; но стоит среди вас Некто, Которого вы не знаете.

He is the one who comes after me, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie."
Он-то Идущий за мною, но Который стал впереди меня. Я недостоин развязать ремень у обуви Его.

This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan, where John was baptizing.
Это происходило в Вифаваре при Иордане, где крестил Иоанн.

The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!
На другой день видит Иоанн идущего к нему Иисуса и говорит: вот Агнец Божий, Который берет на Себя грех мира.

This is the one I meant when I said, 'A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.'

I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel."
Я не знал Его; но для того пришел крестить в воде, чтобы Он явлен был Израилю.

Then John gave this testimony: "I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.
И свидетельствовал Иоанн, говоря: я видел Духа, сходящего с неба, как голубя, и пребывающего на Нем.

I would not have known him, except that the one who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is he who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'
Я не знал Его; но Пославший меня крестить в воде сказал мне: "на Кого увидишь Духа сходящего и пребывающего на Нем, Тот есть крестящий Духом Святым".

I have seen and I testify that this is the Son of God."
И я видел и засвидетельствовал, что Сей есть Сын Божий.

The next day John was there again with two of his disciples.
На другой день опять стоял Иоанн и двое из учеников его.

When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!"
И, увидев идущего Иисуса, сказал: вот Агнец Божий.

When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus.
Услышав от него сии слова, оба ученика пошли за Иисусом.

Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?" They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?"
Иисус же, обратившись и увидев их идущих, говорит им: что вам надобно?Они сказали Ему: Равви (что значит: "учитель"), где живешь?

"Come," he replied, "and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him. It was about the tenth hour.
Говорит им: пойдите и увидите. Они пошли и увидели, где Он живет; и пробыли у Него день тот. Было около десятого часа.

Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus.
Один из двух, слышавших от Иоанна об Иисусе и последовавших за Ним, был Андрей, брат Симона Петра.

The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ).

And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which, when translated, is Peter).
и привел его к Иисусу. Иисус же, взглянув на него, сказал: ты— Симон, сын Ионин; ты наречешься Кифа, что значит: "камень" (Петр).

The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip, he said to him, "Follow me."
На другой день Иисус восхотел идти в Галилею, и находит Филиппа и говорит ему: иди за Мною.

Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.
Филипп же был из Вифсаиды, из одного города с Андреем и Петром.

Philip found Nathanael and told him, "We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law, and about whom the prophets also wrote-- Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
Филипп находит Нафанаила и говорит ему: мы нашли Того, о Котором писал Моисей в законе и пророки, Иисуса, сына Иосифова, из Назарета.

"Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?" Nathanael asked. "Come and see," said Philip.
Но Нафанаил сказал ему: из Назарета может ли быть что доброе?Филипп говорит ему: пойди и посмотри.

When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, "Here is a true Israelite, in whom there is nothing false."
Иисус, увидев идущего к Нему Нафанаила, говорит о нем: вот подлинно Израильтянин, в котором нет лукавства.

"How do you know me?" Nathanael asked. Jesus answered, "I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you."
Нафанаил говорит Ему: почему Ты знаешь меня?Иисус сказал ему в ответ: прежде нежели позвал тебя Филипп, когда ты был под смоковницею, Я видел тебя.

Then Nathanael declared, "Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel."
Нафанаил отвечал Ему: Равви! Ты— Сын Божий, Ты— Царь Израилев.

Jesus said, "You believe because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You shall see greater things than that."
Иисус сказал ему в ответ: ты веришь, потому что Я тебе сказал: "Я видел тебя под смоковницею"; увидишь больше сего.

He then added, "I tell you the truth, you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man."
И говорит ему: истинно, истинно говорю вам: отныне будете видеть небо отверстым и Ангелов Божиих восходящих и нисходящих к Сыну Человеческому.

On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee. Jesus' mother was there,
На третий день был брак в Кане Галилейской, и Матерь Иисуса была там.

and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding.
Был также зван Иисус и ученики Его на брак.

When the wine was gone, Jesus' mother said to him, "They have no more wine."
И как недоставало вина, то Матерь Иисуса говорит Ему: вина нет у них.

"Dear woman, why do you involve me?" Jesus replied. "My time has not yet come."
Иисус говорит Ей: что Мне и Тебе, Жено? еще не пришел час Мой.

His mother said to the servants, "Do whatever he tells you."
Матерь Его сказала служителям: что скажет Он вам, то сделайте.

Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing, each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.
Было же тут шесть каменных водоносов, стоявших по обычаю очищения Иудейского, вмещавших по две или по три меры.

Jesus said to the servants, "Fill the jars with water"; so they filled them to the brim.
Иисус говорит им: наполните сосуды водою. И наполнили их доверху.

Then he told them, "Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet." They did so,
И говорит им: теперь почерпните и несите к распорядителю пира. И понесли.

and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside
Когда же распорядитель отведал воды, сделавшейся вином,— а он не знал, откуда это вино, знали только служители, почерпавшие воду,— тогда распорядитель зовет жениха

and said, "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now."
и говорит ему: всякий человек подает сперва хорошее вино, а когда напьются, тогда худшее; а ты хорошее вино сберег доселе.

This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee. He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.
Так положил Иисус начало чудесам в Кане Галилейской и явил славу Свою; и уверовали в Него ученики Его.

After this he went down to Capernaum with his mother and brothers and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.
После сего пришел Он в Капернаум, Сам и Матерь Его, и братья Его, и ученики Его; и там пробыли немного дней.

When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover, Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
Приближалась Пасха Иудейская, и Иисус пришел в Иерусалим

In the temple courts he found men selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money.
и нашел, что в храме продавали волов, овец и голубей, и сидели меновщики денег.

So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple area, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.
И, сделав бич из веревок, выгнал из храма всех, также и овец и волов; и деньги у меновщиков рассыпал, а столы их опрокинул.

To those who sold doves he said, "Get these out of here! How dare you turn my Father's house into a market!"
И сказал продающим голубей: возьмите это отсюда и дома Отца Моего не делайте домом торговли.

His disciples remembered that it is written: "Zeal for your house will consume me."
При сем ученики Его вспомнили, что написано: "ревность по доме Твоем снедает Меня".

Then the Jews demanded of him, "What miraculous sign can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?"
На это Иудеи сказали: каким знамением докажешь Ты нам, что имеешь власть так поступать?

Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days."
Иисус сказал им в ответ: разрушьте храм сей, и Я в три дня воздвигну его.

The Jews replied, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?"
На это сказали Иудеи: сей храм строился сорок шесть лет, и Ты в три дня воздвигнешь его?

But the temple he had spoken of was his body.
А Он говорил о храме тела Своего.

After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said. Then they believed the Scripture and the words that Jesus had spoken.
Когда же воскрес Он из мертвых, то ученики Его вспомнили, что Он говорил это, и поверили Писанию и слову, которое сказал Иисус.

Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many people saw the miraculous signs he was doing and believed in his name.
И когда Он был в Иерусалиме на празднике Пасхи, то многие, видя чудеса, которые Он творил, уверовали во имя Его.

But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all men.
Но Сам Иисус не вверял Себя им, потому что знал всех

He did not need man's testimony about man, for he knew what was in a man.

Now there was a man of the Pharisees named Nicodemus, a member of the Jewish ruling council.
Между фарисеями был некто, именем Никодим, один из начальников Иудейских.

He came to Jesus at night and said, "Rabbi, we know you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the miraculous signs you are doing if God were not with him."
Он пришел к Иисусу ночью и сказал Ему: Равви! мы знаем, что Ты— учитель, пришедший от Бога; ибо таких чудес, какие Ты творишь, никто не может творить, если не будет с ним Бог.

In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again. "
Иисус сказал ему в ответ: истинно, истинно говорю тебе, если кто не родится свыше, не может увидеть Царствия Божия.

"How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"
Никодим говорит Ему: как может человек родиться, будучи стар? неужели может он в другой раз войти в утробу матери своей и родиться?

Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.
Иисус отвечал: истинно, истинно говорю тебе, если кто не родится от воды и Духа, не может войти в Царствие Божие.

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.
Рожденное от плоти есть плоть, а рожденное от Духа есть дух.

You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'
Не удивляйся тому, что Я сказал тебе: "должно вам родиться свыше".

The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
Дух дышит, где хочет, и голос его слышишь, а не знаешь, откуда приходит и куда уходит: так бывает со всяким, рожденным от Духа.

"How can this be?" Nicodemus asked.
Никодим сказал Ему в ответ: как это может быть?

"You are Israel's teacher," said Jesus, "and do you not understand these things?
Иисус отвечал и сказал ему: ты— учитель Израилев, и этого ли не знаешь?

I tell you the truth, we speak of what we know, and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.
Истинно, истинно говорю тебе: Мы говорим о том, что знаем, и свидетельствуем о том, что видели, а вы свидетельства Нашего не принимаете.

I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things?
Если Я сказал вам о земном, и вы не верите,— как поверите, если буду говорить вам о небесном?

No one has ever gone into heaven except the one who came from heaven-- the Son of Man.
Никто не восходил на небо, как только сшедший с небес Сын Человеческий, сущий на небесах.

Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,
И как Моисей вознес змию в пустыне, так должно вознесену быть Сыну Человеческому,

that everyone who believes in him may have eternal life.
дабы всякий, верующий в Него, не погиб, но имел жизнь вечную.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
Ибо так возлюбил Бог мир, что отдал Сына Своего Единородного, дабы всякий, верующий в Него, не погиб, но имел жизнь вечную.

For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.
Ибо не послал Бог Сына Своего в мир, чтобы судить мир, но чтобы мир спасен был чрез Него.

Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.
Верующий в Него не судится, а неверующий уже осужден, потому что не уверовал во имя Единородного Сына Божия.

This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
Суд же состоит в том, что свет пришел в мир; но люди более возлюбили тьму, нежели свет, потому что дела их были злы.

Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed.
Ибо всякий, делающий злое, ненавидит свет и не идет к свету, чтобы не обличились дела его, потому что они злы;

But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he has done has been done through God."
а поступающий по правде идет к свету, дабы явны были дела его, потому что они в Боге соделаны.

After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.
После сего пришел Иисус с учениками Своими в землю Иудейскую и там жил с ними и крестил.

Now John also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were constantly coming to be baptized.
А Иоанн также крестил в Еноне, близ Салима, потому что там было много воды; и приходили туда и крестились,

ибо Иоанн еще не был заключен в темницу.
