how do you confirm a diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis?
- presence of Clue cells *
- pH>4.5
- Positive whiff test
what are clue cells?
Squamous epithelial cells studded with coccobacilli
what is a positive KOH whiff test?
Add KOH → fishy odor
what is the treatment for bacterial vaginosis?
- Oral metronidazole or clindamycin
- Topical intravaginal cream – Metronidazole or Clindamycin
what are the most common causes of vaginitis in symptomatic women?
- Bacterial vaginosis
- Vaginal candidiasis
- Trichomoniasis

Antifungal intravaginal creams:
- miconazole
- clotrimazole

- Abnormal yellowish, watery discharge
- Itching, burning & painful urination
