Q

What’s an orbital?

A

An orbital is an area in space which can hold 2 electrons with opposite spins. They are filled in increasing energy levels. Orbitals with the same energy occupy singly, then pair.

S = 1 orbital
P = 3 orbitals
D = 5 orbitals
