Q

what is the interactionist approach

A

nature and nurture works together to shape human behaviour, this states individuals are genetically predisoposed to certain behaviours but an enviornmental trigger is necesssary for it to be initiated

Q

what is the A03 for nature nurture

A

a limitation of taking a purely nature view is that nurture affects nature- neural plasticity shows life experiences shapes our biology- maguires study shows region of the taxis brains associated with spatial memory was bigger than in controls due to nurture.

a limitation of taking a purely nature or nurture view is that its impossible for any study to seperate the effects of each. twin studies needs an interactionist approach as the concordance rate has never been 100% so the enviornment must have an influence.

an implication of taking a purely nature view is that our behaviour is determined and we have no free will to override our biological destiny- this extreme determinist stance has led to controversy as has been apparent with attemps to link race, genetics and intelligence and resulting application of eugenics policies.if psychologists adopt such an extreme view it can lead to predjudice.
