و سمعت الناس يتحدّثون عن طفل جميل في قصر الملك

She heard the people gossiping regarding a beautiful child in within the palace of the king.

The honoured girl went and stood listening to the gossip of the women in within the palace.

Yes, O my madam. But the child also refused and did not suckle.

‘I know of a woman in the city, definitely that the child will suckle from her’.

قالت امراة : انا لا اصدق قد جرّبنا ست مراضع و لكن الطفل لم يرتضع

A woman spoke: ‘I do not believe, surely we have tested 6 wet nurses but the child did not suckle’.

قالت اخرى : و لماذا لا نجرّب السابعة ماذا علينا

Another one spoke: ‘And why would we not test a 7th one? What harm is there upon us?’

و وصل الخبر الى الملكة فطلبت الجارية و قالت: اذهبي و خذي معك هذه المراة

The news reached the queen. She called for the girl and said: ‘Go and bring this woman with you’.

و جائت ام موسى و جائت خادمة و قدّمت اليها موسى

And the mother of Musa (a.s.) came and a maid came and she presented Musa (a.s.) upon her.

فاعتنق الطفل الراة و اقبل يرتضع كانه كان منها على ميعاد

A

Sp the child clung onto the woman and started suckling, as if he was lying in wait for her.

ولماذا لا يرتضع و هي امه الحنون

A

And why would he not suckle when she is his loving mother?

و لماذا لا يرتضع و هو جائع منذ ثلاثة ايام

A

And why would he not suckle whilst he is in hunger since three days.

و عجبت الملكة و عجب اهل القصر و ارتاب فرعون و قال : لماذا قبل الطفل هذه المراة فهل هي امه؟

A

The queen was suprised and the people of the palace were suprised and pharoah was suspicious. And he said: ‘Why did this child accept his woman? Is she his mother?’

قالت ام موسى : يا سيدي انا امراة طيبة الريح طيبة اللبن كل طفل يقبلني

A

The mother of Musa (a.s.) said: ‘Oh my master, I am a woman of pure odour, pure milk. Every child accepts me’.

و سكت فرعون و اجرى عليها رزقا

A

And pharoah remained silent and he set a wage for her.

و رجعت ام موسى الى بيتها وفي حجرها موسى

A

And the mother of Musa (a.s.) returned to her house whilst Musa (a.s.) was in her lap.

‏ فَرَدَدْنَاهُ إِلَىٰ أُمِّهِ كَيْ تَقَرَّ عَيْنُهَا وَلَا تَحْزَنَ وَلِتَعْلَمَ أَنَّ وَعْدَ اللَّهِ حَقٌّ وَلَٰكِنَّ أَكْثَرَهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ‎﴿١٣﴾‏

A

‘So We returned him to his mother so that her eyes may become cool and so that she may not grieve and so that she may know tha the promise of Allah (s.w.) is true, but many of them do not know’.
