Story 5 : ذبح الأطفال

Question 1

و ذهب كاهن قبطي الى فرعون و قال له :يولد مولود في بني اسرائيل يذهب ملكك على يده

Answer 1

A Qibtee fortune teller went to pharoah and said to him: ‘A newborn child will be born in within Bani Israel upon whose hands your kingdom will perish’.

Question 2

و جن جنون فرعون و امر الشرطة ان يذبحوا كل مولود يولد في بني اسرائيل

Answer 2

And pharoah went completely crazy and he ordered the force that they should slaughter every newborn child born in within Bani Israel.

Question 3

و كان فرعون يرى انه رب الناس يذبح من يشاء و يترك من يشاء كـصاحب الغنم يذبح من غنمه ما يشاء و يترك ما يشاء

Answer 3

And pharoah would see himself to be the lord of the people. He would slaughter whoever he wishes and he would leave whoever he wishes. Like the shepherd, he slaughters from his cattle whatever he wishes and leaves whatever he wishes.

Question 4

و انتشرت الشرطة في مصر يفتشون و يبحثون فإذا علموا مولودا ولد في بني اسرائيل اخذوه و ذبحوه كما تذبح النعجة

Answer 4

And the force spread out in Egypt investigating and searching. And if they came to know of a newborn which was born in within Bani Israel, they would seize it and slaughter it, like the way the sheep is slaughtered.

Question 5

و عاشت الذئاب في الغابة و عاشت الحيات و العقاريب في البلد و لم يتعرّض له احد

Answer 5

And the wolves lived the life in within the jungle. And the snakes and the scorpions lived the life in within the city. Nobody interfered with them.

Question 6

و لكن ما كان لمولود في بني اسرائيل ان يعيش في مملكة فرعون

Answer 6

However, it was not the right of any newborn in within Bani Israel that he may live in wihtin the kingdom of phaorah.

Question 7

و ذبح الوف من الأطفال امام آبائهم و امهاتهم

Answer 7

And thousands were slaughtered from amongst the children in front of their fathers and mothers.

Question 8

و كان اليوم الذي يولد فيه مولود في بني اسرائيل يوما عسيرا

Answer 8

And the day in within a newborn was born in within Bani Israel was a harsh day.

Question 9

و كان يوم حزن و بكاء

Answer 9

And it was a day of grieving and weeping.

Question 10

و كان اليوم الذي يولد فيه مولود في بني اسرائيل يوم تعزية و رثاء

Answer 10

And the day in within a newborn was born in within Bani Israel was a day of consoling and wailing.

Question 11

و كان يذبح مئات من الأطفال في يوم واحد كـعيد الأضحى يذبح فيه مئات من الغنم و النعاج و البقر

Answer 11

Hundreds from amongst the children were slaughtered in within one day like Eid-ul-Adha, in which hundreds of cattle and sheep and cows were slaughtered.

Question 12

إِنَّ فِرْعَوْنَ عَلَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَجَعَلَ أَهْلَهَا شِيَعًا يَسْتَضْعِفُ طَائِفَةً مِّنْهُمْ يُذَبِّحُ أَبْنَاءَهُمْ وَيَسْتَحْيِي نِسَاءَهُمْ ۚ إِنَّهُ كَانَ مِنَ الْمُفْسِدِينَ ‎﴿٤﴾

Answer 12

‘Surely pharoah transgressed upon Earth. He made its people into groups. He would deem weak a group from amongst them, slaughtering their boys and keeping their girls alive. Surley he was from amongst the corrupted ones’.
