Supernumerary teeth

  • Extra teeth beyond normal complement of teeth in dental arch
  • Abnormal morphology=>
  • Smaller
  • Cause delayed eruption, misalignment, crowding
  • More common in permanent dentition and in maxilla
  • If extra teeth resemble normal teeth in size and shape=>supplemental teeth

    * Normal size and shape, resembling regular tooth
    * Commonly maxillary laterals
  3. Odontome=>
    * Hamartomas=>
    * Benign growths of dental tissue
