(4 cards)
1
Q
Deep bite
A
- Excessive overbite=>
- Vertical measurement between maxillary and mandibular incisal margins excessive when mandible in habitual or centric occlusion
- can also be described as excessive overlap of lower incisors by upper incisors
2
Q
Different types of deep bites based on amount of overlap
A
- Normal=> 3 – 5mm overlap
- Moderate=> 5 – 7mm overlap
- Severe=> More than 7mm overlap
3
Q
Deep bite etiological classification
A
- Skeletal Deep Bite=>
- Horizontal growth pattern
- Upward and forward mandible rotation
- Downward and forward maxilla inclination
- Combination
- Dentoalveolar Deep Bite=>
- Supraerupted incisors
- Infraeruption of molars=>
- Lateral tongue thrust, early loss of deciduous teeth, wearing of occlusal surfaces
- Soft Tissue Deep Bite=>
- Associated w/ class II malocclusion and hypodivergent facial patterns
4
Q
Clinical manifestations of skeletal deep bite
A
- Reduced lower third of face
- Short anterior facial height
- Long posterior facial height
- Interocclusal clearance
- Parallel or convergent horizontal cephalometric planes
- Reduced mandibular plane angle
- Reduced gonial angle
