  • Excessive overbite=>
  • Vertical measurement between maxillary and mandibular incisal margins excessive when mandible in habitual or centric occlusion

  • can also be described as excessive overlap of lower incisors by upper incisors

  • Skeletal Deep Bite=>
  • Horizontal growth pattern
  • Upward and forward mandible rotation
  • Downward and forward maxilla inclination
  • Combination
  • Dentoalveolar Deep Bite=>
  • Supraerupted incisors
  • Infraeruption of molars=>
  • Lateral tongue thrust, early loss of deciduous teeth, wearing of occlusal surfaces
  • Soft Tissue Deep Bite=>
  • Associated w/ class II malocclusion and hypodivergent facial patterns

  • Reduced lower third of face
  • Short anterior facial height
  • Long posterior facial height
  • Interocclusal clearance
  • Parallel or convergent horizontal cephalometric planes
  • Reduced mandibular plane angle
  • Reduced gonial angle
