Q

Explain the circumstances of Moses birth and childhood.

A

Hearing that the Pharaoh wanted all Hebrew boys drowned, one Hebrew woman hid her new born son for 3 months. When he couldn’t be hides safety any longer, she placed him in a basket and left him among the reeds along the Nile (his sister watched). Soon the Pharaoh’s daughter came down to the river and founded him. She knew he was Hebrew and felt sorry for him. She allowed an Israelite woman (his real mother) to nurse him and when he no longer needed to be nursed she adopted him and names him Moses. He was brought up as a prince at Pharaoh’s court. But he knew he was Hebrew and it bothered him to see his people suffer.

After midnight, loud wailing was heard from the houses of the Egyptians. All the firstborn sons, even the Pharaoh’s, had died. But the houses of the Israelites were passed over and spared.

A column of cloud came between the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Night passed without the army coming closer. A strong wind blew all night and made a dry path through the water.
