How did life change for Rome’s poor as the empire became larger?
Landowners and employers bought slave to do work that used to be done by poor Romans. Tenant farmers lost their livelihood. Poor people came into the city in search of work.

How did plebeians first get access to political offices? (How did they convince the patricians?)
They did do by going on strike. The plebeians walked out of the city and sat down on a nearby hill. Rome could not fight without them, so the patricians had to give in.
How did wealth play a role in Roman government?
On the early days of the republic, the patricians which consisted of the oldest and typically wealthy families controlled the government. All citizens could vote but the votes of the wealthy usually counted for more.
