Q

As the plane moves forward, air moves around the wings and creates a force that raises the plane into the air

Q

How does mass and distance affect the gravity between two objects?

A

Increasing the mass increases the force, and increasing the distance decreases the force.

Q

What 2 factors does friction depend on

A

1) the roughness of the surfaces of the objects

2) how much force is used to push the two objects together

6
Q

What does friction create.

A

Friction creates heat. (Friction slows down objects for a big events each other and that’s why when you rub your hands together they generate heat)

7
Q

Explain how balanced and unbalanced forces act on an object

We used the example car, bus, ball, rolling pencil.

A

Balanced forces act on an object without changing its motion. A force that causes an object to change its motion is called an unbalanced force. (Newtons first law of motion: an object at rest tends to stay at rest and object in constant motion tends to stay in motion, unless acted upon by an unbalanced force.)

Q

Diagrams: be able to tell which object will experience more friction and Why. Explain how mass and force affect acceleration. What would you have to do to keep constant acceleration of the masses force changed

A

When we draw diagrams of forces, we often use arrows to represent the direction and the strength of the force

Q

List different forms of potential energy

A

Chemical potential energy - Energy in the links between Atoms and molecules
elastic potential energy - Energy stored by something that can stretch or compress
gravitational potential energy- The energy and object possesses due to its position above the earth surface

Q

If given an example, be able to tell if it is gravitational, elastic or chemical potential energy

A

X

15
Q

What does the amount of Kinetic energy depend on?

A

Depends on the objects velocity. (fast-moving bowling ball will cause more pins to fall down than a slow-moving bowling ball faster and object is moving the more kinetic energy and has the amount of kinetic energy also depends on its mass)

16
Q

Explain how an object can change from potential to kinetic energy

A

Law of Conservation of energy: Energy cannot be created or destroyed it only changes form. Example: The Kinetic energy of falling water is changed into electricity and a Hydro electric dam. Also he works on a loaf of bread and changes it into chemical energy

17
Q

What is periodic motion

A

And periodic motion energy changes back-and-forth from potential to Kinetic. Just vibrating like a spring is called periodic motion

18
Q

What does the conservation of energy state?

A

Energy cannot be created or destroyed
