What was the Great Compromise?

A

That Congress should be made up of two parts, called houses. The Senate made up of two senators from each state and the House of Representatives were population would determine the number of representatives each state had.

Explain how Roger Sherman helped the Constitutional Convention succeed.

A

Sherman’s Great Compromise allowed each side to get some of what they wanted. He combined what the Virginia Plan wanted with that of the New Jersey Plan. Congress would be two houses, one representing each of the plans.

A

Once the delegates signed the Constitution on September 17, 1787 but nine of the thirteen states had to ratify it for it to become the supreme law of the land.
