RHAPSODE But I am not stupid: I know many things.

ΡΑΨ.

8

DIK. How do you know many things?

ΔΙΚ. πῶς σὺ πολλὰ γιγνώσκεις;

9

It is clear that you are uneducated, rhapsode.

10

For you do not know whether our ship is “black” or “swift” or “hollow.”

11

RHAPSODE No by Zeus, I am not uneducated about Homer.

ΡΑΨ.

12

I know much because Homer knows much.

13

For Homer knows matters of war, and matters nautical, tactical, strategic —

14

DIK. So also know matters of strategy?

ΔΙΚ. γιγνώσκεις οὖν καὶ σὺ τὰ στρατηγικὰ ἔγρα;

15

RHAPSODE Of course, it’s my job.

ΡΑΨ.

16

DIK. What? Are you then experienced in matters of strategy, rhapsode?

ΔΙΚ. τί δέ; ἆρα ἔμπειρος εἶ περὶ τὰ στρατηγικὰ,ὦ ῥαψῳδέ;

17

RHAPSODE Yes. For experienced in matters of strategy, and I also am experienced [in them].

ΡΑΨ. ναί.
