Dependent Clause
A dependent clause does NOT form a complete thought and cannot stand alone as a sentence. It needs to join up with an independent clause to help it.
E.g. “Because I got a new basketball”
Independent Clauses
An independent clause forms a complete thought, and it can stand alone as a sentence.
E.g. “I went for a run yesterday.”
