Ovale

18
Q

Contents of the foramen rotundum

A

Maxillary division of V

19
Q

Carries the large mandibular division of the trigeminal nerve

A

Foramen Ovale

20
Q

Contents of the foramen spinosum

A

Point of entry of the MMA

21
Q

What bones form the posterior fosssa?

A

Occipital and petrous temporal bones

22
Q

Clivus

A

Steep, smooth slope in the midline that is continuous with he body of the sphenoid bone.

Brainstem rests upon the clivus

23
Q

Contents of the foramen magnum

A

Medulla

Admits vertebral arteries and the spinal roots of XI

24
Q

What is found in the lateral wall of the foramen magnum?

A

Hypoglossal canal through which XII leaves the cranial cavity.

25
Where is the jugular foramen found?
Between the occipital and petrous temporal bones.
26
Contents of the jugular foramen?
IX, X, XI IJV
27
Contents of the internal auditory meatus
VIII VII
28
What is found on the floor of the posterior cranial fossa?
Cerebellum
29
Attachments of the falx cerebri
Anteriorly to the crista galli Posteriorly it becomes continuous with the tentorium cerebelli. Attached to the cranial roof with a free border that lies above the corpus callosum
30
31
32
In what layer is CSF found?
Subarachnoid space
33
What is formed where there are signifiant depressions or fissures in the brain spanned by arcachnoid mater
Subarachnoid cisterns are formed
34
Which are the two particularly large subarachnoid cisterns?
Cisterna magna Interpeduncular cistern
35
Location of the cisterna magna
Between the cerebellum and the dorsal surgace of the medulla. CSF flows into this cistern from the 4th ventricle
36
Location of the interpeduncular cistern
Located at the base of the brain, where the arachnoid spans the space between the two temporal lobes. This cistern contains the optic chiasm. It is deepest between the two cerebellar peduncles of the midbrain.
