When does neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome occur
A
Any time a client is on anti-psychotic medications - most common when treatment begins or doses increased

What are the signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome?
A
Tachycardia - extreme fever, altered LOC - catatonia like state, seizures, muscle rigidity, elevated lab values (WBC, LFT)

What is treatment for neuroleptic malignant syndrom
A
Discontinue the mediations
Safety and seizure precautions
Manage stiffness and hyperthermia

Severe complications of Neuroleptic malignant syndrome
A
Respiratory failure, rhabdomyolysis, and renal failure
