What is Maslow’s hierarchy of needs?
A theory that human motivation follows a hierarchy, where basic needs must be met before higher needs.
How is Maslow’s hierarchy structured?
It’s a pyramid: physiological, safety, love/belonging, esteem, and self-actualisation at the top.
How do people move up Maslow’s hierarchy?
They must satisfy lower-level needs before progressing to higher levels.
What is at the top of Maslow’s hierarchy?
Self-actualisation — fulfilling one’s full potential.
What are deficiency needs in Maslow’s theory?
The lower four levels — unmet deficiency needs cause stress or anxiety.
What is a growth need in Maslow’s theory?
Self-actualisation — it drives personal growth once basic needs are met.
