What is the mechanism of action of paracetamol?

Inhibits the production of a number of prostaglandins and as a result is analgesic and antipyretic.

1. Treatment of mild pain or in addition to other pain measures.2. Treatment of fever greater than 39 degrees causing discomfort.

What is neutropenia?Why is this information so important with regards to paracetamol?

Low white blood cell count.Administration of paracetamol can mask fever in such patients and should be avoided unless patients temperature is greater than 40 degrees.

Dose = 100mgVolume = 2ml (250mg/5ml)
