Flashcards in Hemostasis Deck (8)
what is coagulation?
protein part of the thrombis that is formed during hemostasis. Platelet plug that is formed is NOT coagulation
mean platelet volume (avg. size of a platelet)
platelet senescence (deterioration with age) is associated with:
increased membrane phosphatidylserine
what organ functions as platelet reserve?
spleen. Stores ~20% of body's platelets
glucose = major energy source. Also has glycogen stores
Do neutrophils have glycogen stores?
Yes. This allows them to go into sites where there isn't good oxygen supply
