Classification
Anti-inflammatory and corticosteroid
What is it used for?
Used as an aerosol inhalation or as a nasal spray for allergic rhinitis. Also used for long-term management of asthma
How often should it be taken
Two inhalations, 2-3 times/day
How does it work?
reduces inflammation and immune responses, thus decreasing the frequency of asthma attacks
Adverse effects
Hoarseness, dry mouth, cough, sore throat, oropharyngeal candidiasis, hypercorticism, hypersensitivity reactions
Important info
These can mask the effects of infection if they are present, and inhaled has been associated with the development of cataracts in adults
Contraindication
Hypersensitivity
