• tourniquet last resort because often damages nerves and can result in the loss of limb

• apply 2” (inches) above (proximal) to the wound and not over it or around a joint
• put tag end through the buckle and tighten, then use rid and twist to stop bleeding. Then secure rod
• do not cover tourniquet with cloth
