NUCLEAR CHEMICAL ADDITION Flashcards
(15 cards)
What is the maximum rate for adding boric acid to the mix tank?
Do not add boric acid to the mix tank at a rate of >1000lbs/hr.
Why should boric acid not be added to the mix tank at a rate exceeding 1000lbs/hr?
Adding boric acid at a rate >1000lbs/hr is endothermic and can cause boron to rock up.
What is the minimum borated water concentration required by COLR?
Alternate source of borated water >12,500ppm; 7% mix tank (CA-T-1) is credited.
What powers CA-P-1A/B pumps, and what is required for their operation?
Powered by 1A/B ES MCC; stroke counter on LWDS must be >0 to run pump, TRIP @ 0.
What bypasses LWDS and Chem Add panel for CA-P-1A/B pumps?
A key-operated switch at CA-P-1A/B breakers for RSD.
What happens to “A” BAMT heaters and BAMT Mixer during “A” ESAS load shed?
They are load shed.
What powers the caustic pump (CA-P-4)?
Powered by 1C ESV.
What is the preferred source of reclaimed water, and why?
Ecolochem is preferred to limit dissolved O2.
How is the reclaimed water tank maintained to limit O2 intrusion?
Maintained at 1-2# N2 overpressure.
What does CA-V-133 do, and what happens when it opens?
CA-V-133 opens to maintain 4-6’ (55-75#) in CA-T-7 (reclaimed water pressure tank); CA-P-6 auto starts on valve opening.
What powers CA-V-189, and what are its failure modes?
Powered by 1M DC; closes on RTI and 4# ES, fails closed on loss of air/power.
What is the power source for CA-V-189?
1M DC
What happens to CA-V-189 on RTI or 4# ES?
It CLOSES.
What is the fail-safe position of CA-V-189 on loss of air or power?
It fails CLOSED.
What does CA-V-189 provide water to?
The Reactor Coolant Drain Tank (RCDT).
