UPS DIESEL Flashcards
(15 cards)
What does the UPS Diesel provide power to?
Vital security loads such as lighting, electronic surveillance, access controls, communications, and processing equipment.
How long is power temporarily lost to non-vital security loads during UPS Diesel startup?
Approximately 3 seconds until EG-Y-2 is up to voltage and frequency.
What are the trip conditions for EG-Y-2 UPS Diesel?
Low oil pressure (20#), high water temperature (210°F), and overspeed (2100 rpm).
What is the normal shutdown procedure for the UPS Diesel?
A 5-minute unloaded run to cool down.
What happens during an emergency shutdown of the UPS Diesel?
The UPS Diesel stops immediately with no cooldown, bypassing the cooldown using a locally mounted emergency stop button.
How quickly does the UPS Diesel provide power after a loss of normal power?
Within 3 seconds.
How long is the time delay for the UPS Diesel to transfer back to 1E 480V on restoration of normal power?
30 seconds.
What is the minimum fuel level required in the UPS Diesel Fuel Tank DF-T-13 to meet the mission time?
275 gallons to meet the 24-hour mission time.
Where is the Auto Transfer Switch (SED-SEC-9) located?
On the 2nd Floor Mezzanine above the machine shop.
What triggers the UPS Diesel Generator to start?
Loss of power to the 1E 480V RB H&V Bus.
What happens after the 1E 480V RB H&V Bus is re-energized?
The Auto Transfer Switch cancels the start signal and auto transfers back to normal AC after a delay of 0.5 to 30 minutes.
What type of switch is the ASCO Auto Transfer Switch (SED-SEC-9)?
It is a NORMAL SEEKING switch.
What does the UPS Inverter do?
It provides uninterruptable power from the UPS battery bank to SED-SEC-3 (vital security loads) until EG-Y-2 is up to voltage and frequency.
What precaution must be taken before operating the Auto Transfer Switch (SED-SEC-9) manually?
Ensure that both normal and emergency power supplies are de-energized.
What is the largest load on EG-Y-2?
Perimeter lighting.
