MAIN GENERATOR & AUXILIARIES Flashcards
(13 cards)
What powers the GN-P-2 ESOP and when does it auto-start?
DC powered; auto-starts at 95# seal oil pressure and lowering.
What is the function of the GN-P-3 Vacuum Pump?
Removes non-condensable gases and routes oil to the vacuum pump for lubrication, cooling, and sealing.
What is the purpose of the GN-P-4 Recirculation Pump?
Runs continuously to de-aerate and dry the oil.
What does the Seal Oil Regulating Valve (SO-V-H19) maintain?
Maintains a ΔP of 8# (68# nominal) and ensures seal oil pressure is greater than gas pressure.
How does the Seal Oil Pressure Regulator (SO-V-H12) function?
Works with H19 to regulate main seal oil pump discharge pressure and governs seal oil flow rate.
What happens on loss of MSOP and TB lube oil?
H2 purity degrades over time, and seal oil loses cooling. Loss of both MSOP and ESOP stabilizes gas pressure at 15-20# and requires a generator trip with emergency manual purge.
When does the standby Stator Coolant Pump (GN-P-5A/B) auto-start?
Auto-starts at 110# (100# backup) and low flow <403gpm.
What does the GSC-V-Y07 Temperature Control Valve do?
Diverts flow around series coolers to maintain stator inlet temperature; stator coolant flow through coolers is not adjusted.
What does the SLMS control and why?
Controls dissolved oxygen to promote formation of cupric oxide (good) to prevent corrosion versus cuprous oxide (bad) that plugs bars.
What are the thresholds for H2 leakage in the generator?
Normal: <10 ft³/day; Check next outage: >10 ft³/day; Remove generator from service: >200 ft³/day.
What triggers a stator coolant runback?
Flow of 381-400gpm (2 of 3 for 5 sec) or high outlet temperature of 80-82°C.
What are the stator coolant runback limits?
Reduce to <25,474 amps (<95%) in 2 minutes and <9,322 amps (29.6%) in 3.5 minutes.
What action is required for conductivity >9.9 in the stator coolant?
Reduce reactor power to <45% and trip the turbine.
