PRIMARY COOLING SYSTEM Flashcards
What happens when NS-P-1A trips on overcurrent while NS-P-1A/C are ES selected with A running?
NS-P-1A shows green and amber lights (disagreement), NS-P-1B shows red light with no amps (can’t start), and NS-P-1C shows green light with no amps (no standby start signal).
What procedural limitation exists when two NS coolers are out of service (one for cleaning, one for leak)?
You are procedurally limited to only one NS pump running due to FIV issues.
Where is NS-V-4 located?
NS-V-4 is located on AB 305’ of the Aux Building in the overhead at the RB wall by Purge Exhaust.
What happens when IC-V-2,3,4,6 are closed and both IC-P pumps are in PTL, and the first pump is taken out of PTL?
A low flow alarm is triggered, and the pump auto starts as soon as it is taken out of PTL.
Why is the torque switch for river water discharge valves bypassed during full-stroke operation?
To preserve the safety function.
What happens to the non-ES Nuke River pump during an ES actuation?
The non-ES Nuke River pump trips and is locked out.
What happens when the 1P bus high side feeder breaker trips due to overcurrent while NS-P-1A/B are running on the 1P bus?
NS-P-1A shows green and amber lights (disagreement), NS-P-1B shows red light with no amps (can’t start), and NS-P-1C shows green light with no amps (no standby start signal).
What condition can lead to NS-P cavitation?
NS-P cavitation is possible following a receipt of a low pressure alarm on NS-T-1.
When does Line Break Isolation (LBI) actuate?
LBI only actuates when the lights associated with Line Break Isolation are illuminated.
What procedural limitation exists when two NS coolers are out of service (one for cleaning, one for leak)?
You are procedurally limited to only one NS pump running due to FIV issues.
Where is NS-V-4 located?

What happens to the non-ES Nuke River pump during an ES actuation?
The non-ES Nuke River pump trips and is locked out.
What happens during an ESAS actuation and LOOP when NS-P-1A/C are ES selected, NS-P-1A/C start, and NS-P-1C trips?
At 2 minutes, ESAS is defeated to throttle HPI. At 10 minutes, CRS directs the restart of NS-P-1B due to NS-P-1C failure. The minimum operator action to restart NS-P-1B is to reset the 27/86 lockouts and manually start the pump.
