common childhood URTI infection in 6 months- 3 years old, characterised by a harsh barking cough and inspiratory stridor. Commonly occurs int hew inter months

Parainfluenza virus
-> other viral causes include adenovirus and RSV
How is croup diagnosed?
Clinical history
Pulse oximetry
X ray is not necessary but will show a steeple sign, where trachea looks like it is tapering
What is. the management of croup?
Stridor
High fever
High
How is croup treated in mild cases?
Where there is NO stridor or chest wall recessions, provide single dose of oral dexamethasone.
What is bronchioloitis? v
Lower respiratory Viral infection affecting babies and toddlers caused by RSV
