International organization formed after WW1 to provide place to resolve international disputes and avoid situations like one that started WW1
Treaty of Versailles
Officially ended WW1 on June 28, 1919
Negotiated among Allied powers with little input from Germany.

- German army limited to 100,000 men
- German navy restricted to 6 battleship & no subs
- Germany not allowed to have an Air Force

Usual - rifles, artillery, tanks, machine guns
New - flamethrowers, poison gas, mortars, aircraft
What actions did Germany commit that angered the U.S.?
Tried to make a treaty with Mexico against the U.S. (Zimmerman telegram)
Used subs to sink merchant ships supplying the French and English

- Russian not invited due to Communist revolution and not paying debts to Allies
