Q

What advantages does a unicellular organism have?

What characteristics does a multicellular organism have?

A

unicellular organism is simpler and not dependent on specialized organs or organ systems.

15
Q

Define organism

A

Any living thing that can carry outline processes by itself. Can be either unicellular or multicellular

16
Q

Define specialization

A

.performing specific functions based on structure to support the organism.

17
Q

Define tissue

A

Group of similar cells with similar function

18
Q

Define organ

A

Collection of tissues with a specialized function.

19
Q

Define organ system

A

.group of organs that work together to perform body functions.

20
Q

Explain the relationship between structure and function

A

Structure determines function

21
Q

Describe how various organs and tissues serve the needs of cells for nutrients, oxygen and waste removal

A

Digestive system - stomach. - brings food and nutrients into the body

Respiratory system - lungs. - brings oxygen into the body

Circulatory system - heart. - carries nutrients and oxygen to all organs and cells in the body. Returns waste products.

Excretory system - bladder - eliminates waste products from the body

22
Q

What are the three types of plant tissues?

A

Transport, protective, and ground

Transport - moves water and nutrients through a plant

Protective - protects outside of plant. ie Bark, leaf, etc

Ground - internal support and storage and absorbs light.
