Five Pillars of Islam
Rules Muslims followed.
1- There is no god but god and Mohammed is the prophet
2- Pray five times every day.
3- Give to the poor and needy
4- Fast during the month of Ramadam
5- Travel to Mecca for at least one pilgrimage

Title the Muslims used for their highest leader.
Janissaries
Soldier that converted to Islam. Were tortured to convert to Islam.

Defeated the Byzantine empire. Used cannons. Took Constantinople.
Suleyman
Took control of eastern Mediterranean. Ruled 1520-1566

Thought only Muhammad’s descendants could be caliph. Was one part of the Muslim religion.
Sunni
Thought people didn’t have to be related to Muhhamad to be caliph. Other sect of the Muslim religion.
