How did the townspeople react to the watery Fiske farm?
The townspeople were discussing/arguing the cause of the spouting water on the Fiske farm including logical reasons, that they were imagining it or maybe it’s magic.
When was it clear that the water Adam had wished for was not a blessing, but a curse?
When Adam woke the next morning the house roof was leaking, the whole barn floor was underwater and the crops where drenched. His Pa said that if the water doesn’t stop soon they might have to leave the farm before we’re drowned out.
What made Adam realize that his wish caused the catastrophe on the farm?
When he heard one of the townspeople mention magic as the cause. His stomach turned to jelly at hearing of magic. He remembered the Church social, the wish card, and his wish.
What was Pa’s attitude during the crisis?
Pa’s attitude was very matter of fact about the situation. He just did what needed to be done. No whining about his misfortune.
How did Pa react when Adam told him about the wish?
Pa just quietly said “it didn’t seem possible.” Adam asked if he was going to get mad. Pa said no he wasn’t mad he had made that same wish 100 times in the past years. I am sad that our farm is gone but not angry with you. Wishing that things were better is something all people do.
