The Recombivax HB can be given to whom?
Children 11-15 y.o. and need Hep B series, give 2 dose at least 4 months apart

4 weeks
29

Quirks about Hep B vaccine if mom is HBsAg+
1 dose with 12 hours, complete series, then document that baby has become HBsAb+
35
Post-exposure phophylaxis of Hep A?
If > 1 yo, give Hep A vaccine instead, If less than 1, give immunoglobin
36
When can you NOT give the varicella vaccine?
High dose steroids (> or = 2mg/kg/day) or PREGNANT
37
When do you have to wait to give MMR/V vaccines?
Wait 3 months if pt has received immunoglobins, wait 5 months if given pRBCs, wait 8 months if given IVIG for ITP, wait 11 months if given IVIG (2g/kg) for Kawasaki
38
Can PPD and MMR react?
Yes, MMR can suppress the tuberculin reactivity, so do it on the same day or 6 weeks after the MMR
39
Only true contra-indications for DTaP?
Encephalopathy within 7 days of the vaccine
40
Other contra-indications for DTaP? (can debate whether it should be truly given)
>40.5 fever, persistent crying >3h, or collapse or shock like state within 48 hours, OR seizures w/in 3 days of last dose
41
Do seizures after DTaP cause epilepsy or neurological damage?
There is no evidence

Yellow fever, flu?????(flu can be given to egg allergic if pt is monitored for 30 minutes)
43
What vaccines have streptomycin, neomycin, or polymyxin B antigens?
IPV, OPV
44
What vaccines have Neomycin antigens?
MMR, varicella
45
What vaccines have gelatin?
MMR, varicella, yellow fever
46
Contraindications to giving MMR vaccine?

47
What vaccines are given SQ?

By what chronological age can premies and <2 kg babies get the Hep B vaccine and seroconvert like term babies?
By 1 month!. So give the 1st first dose at 1 month or prior to discharge, which ever comes first. If baby got HBIG/HBV at birth since mom was HBsAg+, that HBV doesn't count toward the HBV series.
